Oh totally. It's a one-two punch of "putting away childish things" and the whole "culture is on the decline" thing. Of course culture was said to be on the decline when it made the things we like, but that never stops anyone from feeling that way.

Exception aside, I totally agree with your point. I grew up at the dawn of the sequel era, so for me Ghostbusters 2, Gremlins 2, Ewoks, etc, were totally valid. But I know folks 2 or 3 years older who thought that stuff was sellout trash for dumb babies
