A movie poster for the 1988 movie betrayed. The word betrayed in blue up top. The face of Debra Winger on the left. Tom Berenger on right. A burning cross between them

Been watching 80s thrillers on Tubi lately and ran into this little beauty. "Betrayed" 1988. Full of good actors.

It got panned when it came out because critics thought the white supremacy was exaggerated, and the FBI not caring about the death of a black man was unrealistic.

SMH.

Mary goes on Wheel of Fortune. (Dorothy goes on Jeopardy season 7). Now I'm working on a conspiracy theory.

There's even an episode about Rose going away with a gentleman friend and the other ladies waiting for her to come back and tell them what went down in both shows season 1. I'm down a rabbit hole. 📺👀

Four women are gathered in a cozy living room. One woman in a red blouse and black pants stands with her hands on her hips. Next to her, another woman in a purple off-the-shoulder dress and black belt holds papers and smiles. A woman in a mustard-yellow outfit sits on a chair holding sheets of paper, looking toward the others. Another woman, dressed in a striped blouse and purple pants, sits on the couch glancing upward. Bookshelves, plants, and framed artwork decorate the room.

227 and The Golden Girls premiered on the same night September 1985. Only now realizing they have the same female dynamic.

sassy lead: Mary (Dorothy) funny senior: Pearl (Sophia) sweet one: Rose (Rose)
sexy one: Sandra (Blanche)

Good binge. Highly recommend!

Congrats to all the Visionary Fellows and every actor bringing these stories to life. This initiative is more than a program. It’s a real investment in disabled artists and the stories we’ve been waiting to tell.

Screenshot of a Variety article excerpt. The article describes the film "Bembé" by Ferrer, which follows a bandless Merengue bandleader navigating the 1980s Latin Music scene in New York. It emphasizes the theme of needing others to succeed. The film, set to shoot in Hancock Park, stars Rafael Castillo, Lex Lumpkin, Vico Ortiz, Nathaly Navarro, Mauro Castillo, Fernando Huc, and Carlos El Grande.

Two behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the film Bembé. The top image shows members of the cast and crew posing together indoors. From left to right: Mauro Castillo in a security guard uniform, Vico Ortiz in a patterned dress shirt, Fernando Huc in a white suit, Rafael Castillo in a blue shirt, writer/director Zayre Ferrer wearing a face mask and green coveralls, Nathaly Navarro holding a script, and Lex Lumpkin holding a trumpet. The bottom image features Carlos El Grande in a silver suit, performing on stage with La Orquesta Bembé—including a bassist, pianist, and percussionist—against a sparkling red curtain. Film equipment is partially visible in the foreground.

I’m so damn proud of this cast: Carlos, Fernando, Lex, Mauro, Nathaly, Rafael, Vico.
Thank you for showing up with your whole selves and making this film sing!

Two men sit at a dimly lit table. One, wearing a white wig and colonial attire, holds up a crudely stitched flag depicting a large black cat hunched with its back arched and claws extended. The other man, dressed in a white shirt and a blue headband, looks unimpressed. The scene has a historical and comedic tone.

Happy Flag Day, everyone! Fly a flag of chosen family and chaotic love today! 🏴‍☠️❤️ #OFMD
