the pitching was the predictable trouble spot preseason (1st third of season was a mirage). just about all of stearns’s trade deadline acquisitions, non acquisitions were failures.

obviously starting pitching took up all the oxygen but a novice like me noticing the terrible tradeoff of replacing taylor for mullins (lesser defensively, marginally better batting/power, lack of spark esp. after just last years magical season of the OMG intangibles, timely hiting…)

in addition, should’ve called up mclean & sproat little bit earlier as the pitching was absolutely imploding! my 2cents, stearns is more culpable…but keep both; they’re young and will learn from it.
