Global Electricity Mid-Year Insights 2025 | Ember Solar and wind outpaced demand growth in the first half of 2025, as renewables overtook coal’s share in the global electricity mix.

Renewables have surpassed coal for the first time, a historic milestone in the global energy transition. Solar and wind met 83% of the increase in global electricity demand in early 2025. A faster cooperation can meet #COP28 goals.
