If you look at this deal from KC's perspective, it's Hutton for Bethune + 100k...but it's also removing a cog from a record-setting defense that they do not have a replacement for.

I'm not privy to every moving part in a deal like this, I'm not sure I would want another contender to get a player of Bethune's quality.
