it also occurred to me when watching the HTTYD one and hearing kids cry in the theater bc they actually thought Hiccup died. like thats what made me realize "oh shit, kids are growing up with THESE versions of movies and their parents arent showing them the classics and thats concerning"

live action versions of beloved cartoons and won't watch or even find the older ones. Why? No idea other than that Disney is obviously trying to rebrand as a live-action movie company like Marvel but given the very whitewash-y themes of the L&S LA it also feels like trying to un-progress their brand

Whenever I see the #liloandstitch live action commercial, it stuck out to me it says "be the FIRST to watch Lilo and Stitch on your TV" not live action. *Just* lilo and stitch. It basically spells out companies' motivations for live action; they hope new generations will grow up with these rehashed-

as much as we all love how caring and affectionate Blitzø is to Loona, taking care of a child takes more emotional investment than he can actually give out and thats where Loona is struggling. Orphan guy actually sat down and had a meaningful conversation w her, which shes learned to never expect-

I do think they're setting up future conflict bc Blitzø has the opposite problem of Stolas in that hes *too* possessive of Loona even tho she's an adult. And could b why he was so crabby this whole ep was bc the man gave her what she wanted from Blitzø which was just patience + understanding

I watched the latest helluva boss short yesterday!!! It was a mixed bag imo bc I loved that Loona was finally getting development and time to feel out her feels but having Blitzø there...eh?? HBs season ended on a rlly nice note so him being super crabby the whole time was rlly jarring and confusing

The alternative to this would be like "i hope you get turned into an AMAB creator who made a book or movie making fun of toxic parts of society and those toxic parts of society misunderstood your point entirely and appropriated it into being part of their toxic culture"

"I hope you die" is too basic of an insult. "I hope you get turned into an AFAB creator whose cringy queer indie project gets a little too successful and people send you death threats about it and slander it online for clout" is horrifying

Went to see the Lilo and Stitch live action film bc i thought I'd give ONE of these a chance. Seeing Jumba being portrayed the way he was while being my favorite character since I was a small child is a type of psychological torture I wouldn't wish upon anyone.

the other part is also like people not getting vivzie adds the swearing and sex jokes bc SHE thinks it's funny. call me a vivzie bootlicker but hellaverse quite literally is just her adding whatever she wants bc she likes it and anyone else liking it is just a nice bonus and I respect that so much

like there's a very specific level of irony in mocking a queer left-leaning female creator for not wanting to mock her minority characters and audience while eating it tf up when another str8 white guy makes fun of every minority in the book but bc hes self aware abt those issues it's totally fine

it just occurred to me, like. People mock #hazbinhotel bc the only offensive humor is swearing and sex jokes but I wonder if it's bc other adult cartoons mostly make fun of like. minorities and US politics which it can't do bc the characters r mostly minorities + it's not set in the US

or like. go to school. cuz some of the toxicity I've seen around fandom spaces recently is partially children/teens who never learned fandom etiquette. Or basic social interaction. Or internet safety.

In addition, do not blame creatives working under them. Do not blame the writers who had their scripts shredded in front of them. Do not blame the artists who had their work criticized and told to do-over. Do not blame the CGI artists who had to do entire movies in a few months on a retail budget

hot take? Idk. movie execs recycling movies and adding half-assed representation is a ploy to oversaturate the film industry with bad representation until consumers get sick of it and demand they stop and then they never have to add representation ever again. movie exec weaponized incompetence.

(I dont dislike her either btw and I do hope the next seasons flesh out her character)

i thought she was a bit boring because she doesn't *have* much of a personality outside of either her angel background or being Charlie's girlfriend (even then there aren't a lot of unique Chaggie scenes imo). not criticizing but I would like some insight onto how she stands out as a person overall
