I was surprised when I first moved in to a large unit complex in the Valley - three towers with over 500 units/homes - how little traffic it generated. It only has car access through narrow single lane streets, but the local traffic impact is minimal. West End seems different in that way.

Greg Fryer was a 4ZZZ volunteer in the 1980s, involved with Murri Hour and the station more broadly. His early band, ACT, played a guerrilla gig for the 1988 Boggo Road prison protestors and, later that same year, helped reclaim the Triple Zed studios after the right-wing UQ Student Union attempted a dawn eviction. These days, Greg is well known as an actor, musician and comedian, but he still credits playing at a 4ZZZ market day and making the Hot 100 charts as pivotal moments of his creative career.

They didn’t have one. That’s why malapportionment and gerrymandering was so easy. The Australian Electoral Commission was set up in the 1980s. The Qld equivalent was set up in 1992.

and in North Queensland too! They basically had to redistribute half his electorate into another one to get him voted out.
