I recommend this article, which provides an excellent introduction to the history both of the term autism and the ways in which the label has been applied to a changing set of human characteristics, in line with changing scientific and diagnostic approaches.

Call for papers for this year’s annual North West Medieval Studies Network Postgrad Symposium is now open. This years symposium will take place at Chetham’s Library on Tuesday 5th August 2025. All postgraduates and early career scholars are welcome to submit.
