Bent over the cooler, a man debated between lemon soda and iced tea. Their carts collided in the narrow aisle, setting off a startled laugh. Something electric passed between them, small but undeniable, and not just from the static in the air. They kept talking, about nothing important really, and the heat outside made their banter feel urgent, almost too close. A passionate debate about which frozen dessert was best ended with them tossing both choices into her basket and heading for the checkout. When she finally stepped back onto the sidewalk, the sun blazing again, she let out a sigh that felt like both relief and anticipation.

Not so shimmery till it broke
Another thing a little harder
than needs be. You still have to keep it
in your heart - there are much greater reasons
to sigh than the fuming heat of those
with no boundaries that don't benefit themselves,
