with that said, I know many people who that bandaid has saved their life at times, myself included, but I can't help but constantly think what if the systemic issue was addressed previously so it never had to get to this point, he is a symptom of something bigger that just doesn't have a quick fix

I've been thinking about this discourse point for years and have a background in trauma-informed-care, it has always felt like displaced frustration to me,because much like with trauma , bandaid solutions aren't gonna ever fix generations long wounds if they aren't addressed entirely in good faith.
