That was fun! Great to meet you John!
Glückwunsch Ben! Schön Dich auch offiziell dabei zu haben 😉🍻
How nice to randomly bump into you there of all places! Sorry there wasn't more time to chat, but there will be a next time.
Happy further travels!
My work on small beer. The first time I discovered an actually *new thing* in historical beer, and the piece was illustrated with my own linocuts, in the main.
I loved writing it and was, and still am, so proud of it. A proper mash up of all my favourite things - beer, history and art.
Loved this postcard. I wish this was true again!
Whiled away a good hour with complete strangers, one of them also a homebrewer as it turned out, over a few very fresh Päffgen Kölsch.
Brouwerij de Molen is closing down per 1 September. I wonder if they will still organise a last edition of their Borefts festival.
It's crazy to see such a craft giant fall; especially since they are owned by Swinckels group (Bavaria).
The one and only Kornølfestival is now also on Bluesky
The American Homebrewers Association just announced that it is breaking away from the Brewers Association and becoming its own nonprofit organization. Should help the AHA better serve the nation's homebrewers. We got the details for you in this story

Bit tricky to assign impressions to the hops as combined with a fairly expressive yeast strain in this beer. But I think it worked as intended.
Mild spicy yeast phenols combined with slightly peppery, floral, slightly green tropical fruity continental hops, kinda blossoming violets and nearly ripe mango. Rough dry grains with mild creamy suggestion, concluded by reassuring bitterness.
Paid a bit more attention with the latest bottle for some tasting notes:
It's been a while since I shared this, there must be some more breweries joined by now?

Fresh homebrewed Saison with rare French hop, Petit Blanc, raw wheat and barley, and fermented with the Dupont strain. Pleasantly fruity, spicy, dry and bitter.
New yeast phylogeny paper out, and this is by far the biggest yet, with 3034 yeast strains divided into no less than 39 groups in 4 supergroups. Lots of information to unpack here, and also some disappointments.
It's publication day, and this week we have the inimitable @petebrownbeer.bsky.social on Baird's Malt, the essential nature of malt for all beer lovers, and the effects of climate change on our barley crops 🌾
