Birds are great. Hoping to get more photos this summer! πŸ€žπŸ€žπŸ¦… We had both birds and fish as pets when I was a kid, but their longevity was not so great! 😒 Our care may have been suboptimal 🫒

Yeah, the tripod works well and also a gimbal for my new big lens. Try to be set up for photos of loons and maybe bald eagles πŸ€žπŸ¦…πŸ€ž this summer. We’re getting rain tomorrow, but not three inches, thank goodness! 🌧️

Just saw this one! My wife and I were planning on going to listen to some baroque music, but it didn’t pan out. Bummer! But I did try out a new tripod, so that was a plus! πŸ‘ Hope your day went ok and that you were able to do something fun. ✌️

Hey Jaycee, glad you like it , it was fun to give it a try. Lighting is definitely an issue! And being able to do some kinds of indoor photography would be good, especially in bad weather… ✌️

In the lower right a tufted titmouse in profile hangs off a suet feeder, giving us some serious side eye. The feeder is to the left of the image, with a blue cap and black grate, and is nearly full of yellow-orange suet.

In the center of the photo, a tall, brown vase with dark red and blue decoration on its front holds a bouquet of four tall, dried hydrangeas on brown, leafed stalks. The vase sits on a reddish brown cabinet and is flanked on the left by a photo and part of a lamp, and on the right by a second photo and an old-fashioned barometer.

An experiment today: a still life of dried hydrangeas in a vase. Norwich VT, March 2026

I tried, but the #BlueBrew replies seem to be restricted… hence my sad face! 😒🀣🀣

OK, good to know! Will add it to the ever-expanding list. In the meantime I’ll keep my eyes open around here… there’s certainly plenty to look at and thin about. 😊

Not to be a pest, but I sadly 😒 seem unable to access #BlueBrew. Is there a secret handshake or something? 🀣🀣

Ok, thanks, I’ll check it out! πŸ™ Is it a good show to just watch, too?

Nope, never have. I’m assuming this is the one on Netflix based on β€œThe Talented Mr. Ripley” novel? (Which I have also not read!)

Hi Martinidoro, good to see you! πŸ‘‹ That shot was taken in summer, so it was probably +3 to 5 C, not as cold πŸ₯Ά as it looks. I’d love to visit Svalbard in polar night someday, though when it would be just a little different! β„οΈπŸŒ™β„οΈ

Oh sure! I really admire your composition, which I always enjoy. A lot for me to learn, as composition is for me my (self-identified) weakest suit. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Comes from being a professional science nerd! πŸ€“πŸ˜‚

In the center of this image, a wide, blue-and-white glacier extends the width of the frame. It is bracketed on top by dark, blackish mountains to the right and left. In the foreground is the ice-choked water of St. Johnsfjorden; hints of the glacier's blue are reflected there. Overhead is a blue sky filled with scattered, sometimes layered clouds.

I can't miss #BlueskyArtShow! A very #horizontal glacier in St. Johnsfjorden, Svalbard. July, 2025
