Today at an event of the Social Platform ENIL took the floor and demanded an MFF with a high spending on Independent Living Services.
Commitments to reduce poverty or homelessness will not work until the root cause of disability exclusion is addressed.
Institutionalisation and the disability employment gap are increasing.
At our event on Independent Living Services for the EU Disbaility Strategy we highlighted that the cost of discrimination is no longer acceptable.
Invest in personal assistance and personal budgets now!

Disabled people are much more likely to be poor. We will not achieve improvements until we accept that poverty is to a large extent caused by the exclusion of disabled people from society.
Yesterday ENIL met with the EU Commissioner for Equality @hadjalahbib.bsky.social
We emphasised the need for:
- An adoption of the Equal Treatment Directive
- Strong initiatives on IL in the Disability Strategy
- Crisis support
We arecommitting our resources to achieving those objectives.
