I believe there's a romhack for the ps1 that restores them but i haven't heard of a pc mod for that

BoF3 and 4 are both really good and 4 is probably my favorite in terms of story, though you should play the PS1 version instead. Unfortunately the pc version messed up the music...
It doesn't loop correctly so it's really awkward when it starts over from the beginning
