Some pretty eye-opening data on the effect of AI coding.

When Cursor added agentic coding in 2024, adopters produced 39% more code merges, with no sign of a decrease in quality (revert rates were the same, bugs dropped) and no sign that the scope of the work shrank. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

Immunosuppressive Condition and Medication Annotations for Admission Notes in the MIMIC-III Database v1.0.0 This database contains 200 MIMIC-III admission notes with adjudicated labels for histories of various immunosuppressive conditions and usage of various immunosuppressive medications.

3/ Then came the LLMs ๐Ÿค–โœจโ€จGPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, Llama 3.1 ๐Ÿฆ™, Mixtral-8x7B.โ€จClear winner: LLMs by far ๐Ÿš€

To validate externally, we labeled MIMIC notes ๐Ÿ“š and published theses annotations so others can build on this:โ€จ๐Ÿ”— physionet.org/content/immu...

2/ Most studies lean on structured data (ICD codes ๐Ÿ“Š) to capture comorbidities.โ€จWe tested 10 thresholds โ†’ decent performance, but not perfect.

Next: classic NLP ๐Ÿ“โ€จ6 bag-of-words classifiers (NB, lasso, ridge, decision tree ๐ŸŒณ, random forest ๐ŸŒฒ, SVM).โ€จResults? Also not bad!

Some important findings in this paper:
1) Working with AI boosts the performance of people solving math, science & ethics questions
2) The biggest boost is for the hardest problems
3) High performers remain highest performing, but low performers gain more
4) People who are good with AI gain most
