Chopped samples tend to sound different to something you'd write yourself. I've been learning chopped parts on guitar as a way to learn different ways of playing, plus it sounds cool.

I think it's has great potential for non-interactive visual media, but as someone who also has interest in video game development, sticking to the engine makes the skills very transferable.
