Thanks to everyone who stopped by to talk about #BlueSCSI this weeked! I'm exhausted but will post a few highlights tomorrow

I know it has been several days, but I did that, and also bought a couple rolls as well. It won't be for a few months, but am planning to buy a large amount, once finances are a bit better, perhaps an entire run.

Thank you for creating this filament and Polar Filament for making this real.

If I had my choice, I'd still be using the NeXT grayscale UI for the OS windowing system, just becuse it worked so well. (2/2)

UI/UX changes never seem to be about functionality enhancements... they seem to be more about something different. I sort of wish this were not done, or if it were, it would give us the ability to opt out, sort of how XP allowed one to keep classic Windows. (1/2)

Got one 3D printer up, still have a ways to go. Lots of accessories I want to get made before I go for the other printers.

"Apple" BlueSCSI v2 Case by polymatt | Download free STL model | Printables.com I designed this late 80s / early 90s style case for the new (external) BlueSCSI v2 board | Download free 3D printable STL models

Thanks.

This is the one I'm looking at. I've yet to print it, but it gives the Mac external drive vibe.

Just ordered a roll. I was looking at a BlueSCSI adapter to bring my old Mac SE to life, and there are a few good enclosures on Prusa's Printables for this.

Just ordered a roll. This is definitely a color I'll be using to have an external "hard disk" (a BlueSCSI enclosure) for a Mac SE.

I'm genuinely surprised how the Champion generator I picked up in 2022 is still going. It is a dual fuel model, and before I put it up after Sherwood, I run propane through it for a while. I give it an oil change when the manual says to.

Recommended tire pressure is 35 psi. Max is 51. Hope 40 psi is good enough for now, especially when towing.

Is it just me, or does another social network wind up almost useless without a browser add on like FBP? The amount of sheer clickbait noise makes it almost unusable.

First post in a while... not sure if I should mention something debatable/controversial or just stuff I'm up to like stage magic props.

Interesting seeing all the new SBC boards coming from China using RISC-V. Even with the old Linux kernel and drivers, they are getting faster, and getting a lot of new features, like the Milk-V boards.

I don't copy the password, so when the mounted disk image is ejected or the Mac is rebooted, there is no way to access any of the contents. This is good and bad, so make sure to save off your encrypted stuff, and remember that all data on that image can poof at any time if power goes out.

To create a scratch workspace on a Mac that you are assured that it won't be accessible once closed, you can create one in Disk Utility, a sparsebundle, set it to AES-256, pick out a 32 character random password, and it will be created and mount. I use this for temp storage of PWs before archiving.

I'm similar. Ironically, I sold a domain I had since 1998 recently, because I'm not using it. Used to be that Network Solutions was the only registrar out there.

iOS's Assistive Access is a great tool to use with a phone that is being used for filming. That way, if someone snatches the phone, they can't get into your AppleID or do much. The iPhone 11 I have isn't as great as a GoPro, but it doesn't overheat after several hours of filming.

Time for the yearly cleanout and reorganization of passwords, GPG keys, two factor auth codes, license keys, and all sorts of goodies that need to be kept under lock and key. First time I've really cleaned out this mess in about a decade, and what was once was a few megs, is a lot larger.

It took a bit to model, but it looks good, and seems to have come off the printer in one piece with few layer lines. I'm curious how you are going to prime it.

I have not really been into cryptocurrencies, but old school applied crypto, since the days of the Cypherpunk mailing list. What surprises me is how history repeats itself with cryptography, and how stuff like zero knowledge proofs can help privacy greatly.

I'm working on using BIP-39 for something that is not cryptocurrency related. This is a good protocol for being able to recover a master key so one can then restore backups and such. This way, one can have a metal card with this on it, and be able to get all their passwords and such back.

It is less about showing off skillz, than raking in the money via ransom, or getting "street cred" by showing how many sites were erased.

For you Mac admins, does "Erase all Content and Settings..." in Sonoma do the same thing as a DFU restore of a Mac? I know the DFU restore which uses another Mac via the USB/Thunderbolt port will erase and reflash all firmware, Secure Enclave OS, and load the latest rev of macOS.

Time for a quick introduction. I'm an old Linux person, started using it in 1991. I do things like SBCs, 3D printing parts, stage magic (i.e. adding microcontrollers to props), and renaissance faire stuff.
