Queue up the Hozier.
I thought I’d never go back to church, but if God told Karen Whitsett to retire, it may be time for some reevaluation.
“Hegseth” should be an actual term we adopt in the dictionary for the state of feeling like your boss is severely less competent than you.
Had the honor of sitting down with Robyn Vincent, of The Metro, to talk about the University of Michigan’s shameful decision to end health care for trans young people and their families. This was the final segment—one that I hope serves has a call to Michiganders to wake up before it’s too late.
In case folks had any doubts about the fate of Michigan House R’s trans discrimination bill. Read the message Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks had for the children’s table (Matt Hall’s caucus). Moving on. 🏳️⚧️❤️
There is no ethical or fair way for a journalist to present the Trump administration’s or Republican’s perspectives on trans people and/or the health care we receive. It is dangerous sensationalism that has no place in good, responsible journalism.

The New York Times using the 10th anniversary of Obergefell to shit all over trans people feels crazy even for them. Maybe not though!
🚨 The Senate parliamentarian just disqualified a bunch of provisions from the GOP bill — including Medicaid provider tax language, funding restrictions based on immigration status, spread pricing and one prohibition on gender-affirming care. List via a Democratic budget aide:
Louder!
Honor their lives through democratic action. Honor their stories through organizing. Honor your own pain by fighting back.

The MAGA that defunded education. The MAGA that tried to overthrow a free and fair democratic election. And the MAGA that cost the lives of a humble, selfless, and dedicated public servant in the Minnesota legislature and their spouse.
8/9
There will just be one MAGA. The MAGA that broke into farm fields, family-owned businesses, and schools to rip families apart through forced deportation. The MAGA that took kids health care away. The MAGA that kicked honorable service members out of the military because of how they identified.
7/9
There won’t be the “racist MAGA,” the “business MAGA,” the “homophobic MAGA,” the “less taxes MAGA,” the “I just wanted to shake things up MAGA,” and the “less regulation MAGA.”

In the chapters of history books that tell these stories, they won’t bifurcate MAGA’s supporters into the neat buckets some might still be rationalizing themselves in.

Just like 11 months ago, this isn’t a moment where both sides need to cool down. This is a moment where MAGA should be abandoned and rejected in totality.

What’s equally sad is how preventable this was. There is no both sides-ing this issue. MAGA and MAGA alone is accountable for this specific tragedy and for the broader tragedy that’s swept over our country.

the fear and hatred they’ve fomented, and the actual political violence they were executing (and are executing even moreso today) on marginalized groups in America.
What happened this weekend in Minnesota is jarring and heartbreaking.

I co-authored this Free Press op-ed 11 months ago, in the wake of the attempted assassination on Trump’s life. That week, MAGA’s propaganda machine came out firing about their victimhood and nobody in the mainstream media was holding them to account for the havoc they’ve brought to our country,

Repost: Happy No Kings Day 🙅♀️👑 to all who celebrate!
We packed 60 allies and community members (from the district!) in the room. There were another 20 in the hallway. It was beyond standing room only.
We will never stop organizing and fighting for democracy, kids, and safe public schools!
Conservatives (extremists) flew five paid actors from around the U.S. into Plymouth, Michigan two weeks ago to attack the school board, the community, and very specifically, transgender students. Last night, Equality Michigan and PFLAG Plymouth-Canton responded.
A good rubric for any given piece of media about "transgender issues" is asking yourself how well the author answered the question "What about the trans people?"
It seems so stupidly obvious but you'll quickly notice how discourse ostensibly about us generally avoids the consequences we face
Remarkable and important write up on Bridget LaKyra-Jean Butts and all her brilliant work. So well told by @ellenshanna.bsky.social and some insightful info provided by Kristi Gamarel.
More stories like this need to be told at such a vital time for the trans community.
😂😂😂
After MI House Rs passed a trans sports ban yesterday, an R staffer mistook me for another woman while I was waiting at the elevator.
I quipped, “I hope you mistook me for someone fashionable.”
Case in point. They don’t know who is trans and who isn’t. These bills will hurt all girls in our state.
