The Overhear team, Adrian, Kibriya and Tom pose outside smiling on a sunny day. The boys are dressed smartly in collared shirts and suit jackets while Kibriya, for some reason, is in dungarees.

Plenty is going on with new features in development and projects being planned, but we’ll call it there. 😌 Follow and share if you or yours might be interested in our work - and once again from the Overhear team @th1nkwr1tefly.bsky.social @kibriyatm.bsky.social & @imtompeel.bsky.social : Hello!

A hand holding a phone showing the Overhear app. A map takes up most of the screen while a big red button at the bottom shows that the app is recording audio.

But wait, there's more! With our new in-app recording feature, any Overhear listener can share their work. We’ve made it easy for anybody to record and pin audio to the map wherever they are - and you have complete control over whether its public, between friends or just for you.

Overhear team member Adrian leads a group of writers through a green space around a hospital. There is a large tree sculpture with colourful leaves in the center of the frame.

We’ve also been having a blast running workshops working with all kinds of people to write and record work inspired by the world around us, from nursery aged kids guiding visitors around a garden to patients on a stroke ward telling us what recovery feels like.

Overhear team members Tom and Adrian laugh while in conversation with two people who have been writing and recording in an oral history workshop.

Right now, we have a lot of pins around the Midlands, but we’ve also gone as far flung as Latvia(!) plus there’s new content being added all the time. We have an amazing network of brilliant writers and organisations who have collaborated with us on loads of innovative projects.

Walking tour guide Ben Waddington points towards something beyond the top left corner of the frame while others look up intently.

Whether it’s poetry inspired by the statues you see every day or a neighbour sharing a meaningful memory from their youth, there’s always something interesting to overhear, and it could help you see your surroundings in a whole new way

a crowd of around 10 people, some walking alongside bikes listen to audio on headphones

Once you get close enough to a pin, the audio will automatically download to your personal library in the app. Press play to enjoy the immersion of listening to something brilliant inspired by the very place you’re standing in - and you can listen again whenever you like!
