573 political scientists in and out of Korea have written and signed a declaration calling for Yoon's immediate impeachment. I've translated it into English with Prof. Jeong Hyun Kim at Yonsei:

The latter study is based on data from individual voters, but the increasing polarization can further undermine political elites' capacity to punish copartisan politicians for subverting the democratic process.
This rising polarization is detrimental to democracy regarding punishing undemocratic behavior as shown in Graham and Svolik (2020):
people “will not cross party lines to punish a copartisan for violating democratic principles."
