Oh goodness they look like a dream. I opted for a big after having my Vibro-cootie for years. There was an old USAF doc that read the bug wasn’t made to send code faster but easier and it’s the side to side motion I’m sure for me at least.

I have 2 cootie keys on record that I built at the sideswiper net page still. Completely agree they are a ton of fun and very accessible to build. Got into that after getting into wrist pain w/J38 and learned about glass elbow!

I think CW on a straight key is better and have maintained that opinion for years so when it comes to keyers and paddles I defer to Quigly Down Under. #hamradio #cw

Cool! My SEL was discontinued here too. Americans apparently can’t handle thinking about what we’re doing enough to manage a small full electric. It was great on economy parking all the above. I traded it to a Santa Cruz moving to the mountains & lacking fit charging and miss it.

Custom badge? Ionster? I don’t think we have that one state side. I loved my SEL but was too chicken hearted to subject it to much RF!

Yes, clearly. I don’t see the talk group listed anywhere though and it wasn’t active on brandmeister hoseline so before I dropped it into a channel on my HT I want to know what I’m programing. Having a name, license, location, state, that sort of information. Reflector, X-link system, individual?

I do the same with the G106 though we're in some storms sonkore APRS and DMR on the AnyTone. I often turn the screen backlight off on the 106 but doing CW and occational POTA breaks it's the life for sure.

Yay... I was the only survey tech in my company that watched SWPC for updates. A lot of older surveyors were stuck in optical thinking & I think being a ham gave me an advantage in thinking radio for survey as GPS really took ahold of the profession.

KD3AJN Anne joins us in a local DMR net some Sundays. I've been glad to come across more women ops, it's been a hobby dominated by men in Engineering (myself included) far longer than you'd think & I'm hoping our STEM classes in school are opening doors.

Mike is right. There was a YL club for women operators even. The Empire State Slow Speed net (Morse code traffic net) is manged by WI2G Anne & I've come across more women ops on CW & digital myself. I'm married to KC2ZDD though she's not particularly radio-active.

Yeah, it caused a bit of a stir back when it was live. There were shots of cars covered in antennas and it became a repository of hams who went a little overboard. It might live on in Facebook but I'm not on there. Just a funny footnote after 30 some years in the hobby for me.
