I’m a hobbyist so that doesn’t really even come into my line of thinking, I want to improve because I enjoy drawing and learning

This opposed to what usually happens when I try to make it into a habit which is get excited and think ‘I’m gonna do a study every day!!!’ which never happens bc I don’t even draw every day lol

to me 1hr sounds like a lot written down but sometimes you start drawing and 2hrs magically passes so like

wondering if i should start treating art studies like someone fairly casual abt it would treat going to the gym

(E.g. 2-3x a week + 30m-1hr ish per time)

now i’m at the pen & ink liner section— in just sketching & stenciling alone im clocking a 9+ hour day, not including the steps before i ever see my client for an appointment.

and i realise that this whole thread is gonna get locked down bc i showed that my client has a butt 🙄 whatever i guess

i use contact paper to take a tracing once we’re happy with the design & placement. then i transfer it to tracing paper & use the original sketch where necessary to transfer info and do a tighter sketch to get details and shapes together. then it’s another layer of tracing paper for the final draft

for large pieces, i have a pretty involved process.

step one is booking a consult to explain the process & ideas. i then sketch over top of a pic of the client. i keep this a pretty loose sketch & don’t render much at all— just key components, bc i stencil the loose sketch on & draw on changes

if my eyelashes ever started turning white I might be okay with that tho, it’d be like turning into someone’s OC

i have like super mild vitiligo that initially turned a barely noticeable amount of my eyebrow hairs white, but like a new patch appeared on my eyebrow recently and i’m like oh please don’t do anymore than that….eyebrows turning invisible in realtime..

on the other hand irl the same interests makes me feel like im an endangered species lol, I know maybe like 1-2 people at a stretch who like this stuff lmao

I’m glad there are lots of art/comics/animation etc enjoyers online bc even if i’m not chatty w/ ppl online I at least dont feel strange or like I’m having to keep it to myself
