A brief montage of the recently fledged kingfishers along the riverbed. Part of a local project I've been working on in the village, capturing the hidden life of this micro habitat.

A juvenile Black Stork walking through a dyke amongst reeds.

The Juvenile Black Stork at rspb.bsky.social Boyton Marshes showed very well today while it foraged and fed along the dyke.

Hi Leigh.
@rspb.bsky.social Minsmere and Lakenheath Fen in Suffolk are two great reserves, as is Titchwell in Norfolk.
Cley Marshes in Norfolk is also fabulous (Norfolk Wildlife Trust).
You should see a range of passerine plus waders etc.

An Osprey chick sits in a nest at Rutland Water Nature Reserve, while a parent looks on.

This Osprey youngster at Rutland Water looked close to fledging today.
Certainly lots of wing flapping flight prep going on!
It was fabulous to see the parents catching fish and feeding the chick.

A small section of woodland on my Breeding Bird survey transect route. An arable field bordered by hedgerow on my Breeding Bird Survey transect route.

Some glorious weather (at last!) for my late visit @btobirds.bsky.social Breeding Bird Survey on arable farmland in Suffolk. Yellowhammers, Skylark, Chiffchaff, Blackcaps, Chaffinch and Whitethroats were all very vocal, almost as if they were welcoming the sunshine with their song 🌞. #ukbirding

It was my first visit to #RSPB Ouse Fen, Cambs, over the weekend. A lovely reserve with reedbeds and pools. I had close views of the long staying Great Reed Warbler, that was constantly calling. Other highlights were a showy Grasshopper Warbler, 2 Marsh Harriers, Bittern and a Hobby. #ukbirding

The highlights of a dawn chorus walk in Suffolk woodland today were 4 Nightingales, 7 Garden Warblers, Common and Lesser Whitethroat, Nuthatch, Marsh Tit and Mistle Thrush. Isn't a sunny spring morning spent birding just the best thing? #ukbirding

Reed Bunting, Common and Lesser Whitethroat, Blackcaps, Linnets, Skylarks and Yellowhammers. They were all busy singing and displaying, despite the chilly conditions. #UKbirding
