But the great thing about it being self imposed is that I can change the rules!

Day 22 - Using everything I learned from before I made a second space piece. It's pretty much the same in practice but the 'Berry Nebula' colour pallet has made this thing POP.

Day 21 - Been playing a lot of No Man's Sky while ill and have been craving some space pixel art. So here is my first space piece!

Once again following the Bob Ross of pixel art 'PixelRocket'... I absolutely love how this has turned out and might try one from scratch next.

Day 19 - Potentially have got covid, but wont let that stop me!

I went back to doing some landscapes, I tried doing this one without any references. It was meant to be Mt Fuji, but just kinda looks like a mountain with a crappy sunset gradient behind it.

Day 16 & 17 - Trying to do just one more Demon Slayer sprite. This is the snake hashira Iguro...

I have been ill these past couple days and I can unfortunately tell it shows in my art. Trying to translate his layered hair, stripey Haori and snake were really hard.

Here's to getting better soon!

Hahaha yeah his hair was something I was dreading when committing to this resolution but I'm super happy with how it turned out.

I think the whole trial and error process is such a key reason why I love pixel art over traditional art. There's only so much rubbing out pencil I can do!!

So in some pieces I should cluster up those standalone pixels where I can to make it seem less noisy?

I will try and be aware of these as I go! I will admit on this piece for example those buttons stand out quite a bit, I imagine that is due to this 'Orphan Pixel' logic?

Day 15 - I'm still in the Demon Slayer mindset and just needed to do something on Rengoku. I attempted to study the Chrono Trigger style but this looks a lot more Pokémon-esque...

I'm still very happy with it either way!!

Day 14 - Wanted to play with the Gameboy pallet a little, as well as try to stick to the Pokémon tile size. The @pixeldailies.bsky.social prompt for today was 'Screen' and it all fits into this little 32x32 area.

Day 13 - I have just seen the new demon slayer movie and absolutely loved it. So I thought its about time I learn to make characters a bit better. So who better to do then my fave demon AKAZA!

Still have things I need to improve on but I LOVE IT!

Day 12 - Again needed a quick one so once again did the @pixeldailies.bsky.social ... The prompt for today was 'Pecan', so here's a little slice of pecan pie. I actually really enjoyed making this one!

Day 10 & 11 - Okay... I was doing a more in depth study of the isometric art style and this took a lot longer than I want to admit and I kept making mistakes.

BUT... I do enjoy isometric a lot and would like to revisit this piece in the future to finish it off a little.

Day 9 - Had no clue what to do today so did my first @pixeldailies.bsky.social ... Completely stepped out my comfort zone for this one. The prompt was 'Stage', so here's that one SpongeBob episode!

Day 8 - I wanted to try my hand at some isometric pixel art. It may be a little 'cheaty' using Minecraft as a reference for this. But I feel like its a great place to start to learn the fundamentals!

Plus look at that mushroom!

Day 7 - I have just recently watched Brandon James Greer's "Creating Pixel Art from an Object" video and wanted to give it a go.

So here is me trying to "pixelify" a GameBoy, using the buttons as a focus point for size referencing.

Day 6 - Continuing on from yesterdays piece I wanted to use what I learned and do one without following a tutorial. If you couldn't tell I very clearly used a reference from Firewatch and I used the Rust Gold 8 colour palette!

Day 5 - Completely switching it up today. Decided to tackle landscapes but didn't know where to start so followed a beautiful tutorial by Pixel Rocket on YouTube as a reference. Sounded like pixel art Bob Ross!

Day 4 - Again not much time to spend on this today BUT I am quite happy with this!

I stepped away from the Megaman templates and just decided to work from scratch. So here's a little Finn the human using the Resurrect-64 palette.

DAY 3 - Not much time to spend on this today so made some Frieren characters using Brandon James Greer's character template as reference.

Really struggled with only using three colours on Frieren, my come back to her later on!

Day 2 I decided I wanted to try and improve on what I already had. So played around with some pixels for mega man Jinx then quickly got annoyed at the limited browns in the NES palette so started using my own colours.

Even tried with just 3 colours!

DAY 1 of my self imposed 30 day pixel art challenge to teach my self pixel art... Followed Brandon James Greer's "How do you start pixel art?" video and made mega man Arcane characters only using the NES palette!

It's not amazing, but it's a start :D
