Aziraphale glances at Crowley over the windows of kitchen counters; he is fiddling wisteria in the garden. He started to plant them while it was a few of vines hanging on their hedges, now it grew a downpour of violet tapestry surrounding their little bungalow.

Thought, if they never called it love or friendship, or anything too real, they might never risk losing it.

But Crowley did.

He called it—right there in the pub, under dim lights and a millions years of unsaid ineffable things.

You see the thing is they never named what this between an angel and a demon was that, not in so many words, just always around each other, orbiting gently, pretending they didn’t need to say the obvious.

No… they never talked about it, nor brought it up. But somewhere in Aziraphale’s celestial existence, he perfectly under stood the ‘best friend’ was referring to him, even he politely replied ‘I’m so sorry to hear that’.

Years after when they settled in their southdown cottage Aziraphale still recalling the moment that evening of Armageddon when Crowley said to him ‘I lost my best friend’ .
