HUGE (and GOOD) news: Federal court has thrown out the President's attempt to throw the Fed Chair in jail.
Search-and-rescue crews were “flying blind” trying to rescue survivors from deadly tornadoes that hit the Midwest last week.
Why? Because Kristi Noem hadn't approved FEMA’s $200,000 contract with a tornado-tracking tool.
But she had time to spend $220 million on anti-immigrant ads. Priorities.
Who "negotiated" our withdrawal from Afghanistan?Invited the Taliban to Camp David. It fell through and didn't happen, but yeah....Who made sure it didn't take effect until he left office? What was Biden supposed to do? He couldn't stop it, people would say he didn't want to bring the troops home.
Trying to watch the NBC Evening “News”. It’s just painful. Yes I have sympathy for the family of a woman who died 2 years ago after a cosmetic procedure gone wrong, but with everything else that would help us all become better informed about current events, it seems misplaced.
I’ve been following foreign leaders’ statements from the EU, Asia, South America, Canada and Australia. They have all concluded that the US has an incoherent, impulsive madman at the helm. And his decision making regarding Iran is an example of FAFO with world wide impact.
Flood every senators phones.. No to dhs funding w/o big ice changes.. NO to mullin.. he doesn't have a bachelor degree, another incompetent imbecile. NO to the Save Act.. NO to this made up criminal war!! IMPEACH BONDI! hold her in contempt for not releasing the EPSTEIN files! DO THEIR JOBS!!!
61 years ago, civil rights activists put their bodies on the line in hopes of gaining freedom they had never seen.
I refuse to throw my hands up today.
Trump kicked millions off SNAP so families can't eat.
Pete Hegseth spent $6.9 million on lobster tail — a fraction of the $93 billion he burned in a single month.
This is the party of waste, fraud, and abuse.
Horrified to learn of the shooting at Temple Israel in Michigan.
We must all condemn this unacceptable violence and ensure the Jewish community can worship without fear of attack.
Praying for everyone’s safety and thinking of the victims and those affected as we learn more.
The official White House account just cut a video game montage to hype up Trump’s war in Iran.
At least thirteen Americans are dead. Over a hundred are wounded.
These are Americans who died for this country. And this administration is making memes about it.
"oil prices up 50%... But I still want to emphasize one thing. Yeah, that hurts at the pump. Yeah, it sucks. But you know what's worse? War. And so we shouldn't trivialize the big issues here, which is, you know, we're at war with Iran. Big deal for young American troops. Big deal for the Iranians."
This is real life.
Even if the war ends fast, “normal” won’t fully return. Trust and relationships are slow to rebuild, and that shows up as less trade, less cooperation, and more expensive risk management.
I'm not quite sure what to call this — a video essay, an explainer, an econ lesson, or something else.
It's my attempt to explain the economics of war — economic theories of how and why war occurs — and to use that framework to better understand our current moment.

A pretty great conversation with Ed Elson and @katie0martin.ft.com about what financial markets can tell us at critical moments, and what they're telling us about the war in Iran and America's place in the world. youtu.be/Jr7X0tlOl1k?...
"Look at past conflicts and look at what people were saying at a similar point in past conflicts... Every war begins with an assumption it's going to be easy and none of them turn out that way."
You can't make deals if everyone knows you reneg on deals.
I kid you not... The same White House that forgot that invading Iran might lead it to close the Strait of Hormuz, is now arguing (through Peter Navarro) that war with Iran is a good idea because it'll prevent Iran from closing the Strait of Hormuz.
Oil prices aren't expected to fall anytime soon. Futures markets suggest oil prices are very likely to be high high during the midterms.
We should allow him to present that defense at impeachment hearings, which are obviously necessary at this time.
Not knowing about the law does not excuse the commission of a crime.
I assume Hegseth figures that Trump won't allow anything to happen to him and won't fire him (at least until it's necessary to save Trump's butt) and that the US won't allow anyone to hold its officials accountable for war crimes so there aren't any consequences to him for promising war crimes.
And as a fun related legal fact, the failure of a commander to punish war crimes by his subordinates is also a war crime under the doctrine of command responsibility.

I don't know, but I guess it bothers me some that the President of the United States posted on social media that it is his great honor to be killing people. 🤷♂️

Gupta: Why is Dr. Casey Means not right for the role of Surgeon General?
First, she’s somebody who wraps herself in a white coat — she did a lot of that during her confirmation hearing — but she doesn’t actually practice medicine. In some ways it’s just false valor.
