Spiced Orange Cookies
Simple, fragrant cookies scented with orange, cinnamon and nutmeg. Make a double batch and freeze the dough so you can bake fresh cookies whenever the craving hits. Perfect with a mug of tea.

Heat the oven to 165°C (330°F). Roll the dough into balls (about 30g each) and place on a lined baking tray, leaving space for spreading.
Bake for 10–12 minutes. They will look soft when removed but will firm up as they cool. Rest on a rack for 10–15 minutes before serving.

Shape into a ball, cover and chill for at least 1–2 hours.
Method
Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon & nutmeg in a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, oil or melted butter, vanilla & orange zest. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients to form a stiff cookie dough. It may seem crumbly at first but will come together as you mix.
Ingredients
125g plain flour
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
75g brown sugar
2 tbsp milk
30g melted butter
¼ tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp ground cinnamon
Zest of 1–2 oranges
Fresh grated nutmeg
For a vegan version, use plant based milk and olive oil instead of butter.
Makes: 10–12 cookies
Prep: 10 mins + chilling
