as in, I have been the type of guy that the manosphere tries to target with its misogynist and acquisitive attitude to women, but I found it repellent. more people should find it repellent

yeah, from a left wing perspective, I am troubled by a technology that represents a massive campaign of extraction that immiserates everyone who actually makes anything, enriches a handful of fascists with more money than satan, and uses untold volumes of natural resources. this is "reactionary"

just that in itself -- your engagement with a technology and (re)arrangement of capital and labour solely on the basis of its marginal utility to you personally -- is an example of it producing a more conservative and reactionary worldview in people

people who I know for damn sure are capable of broader structural critique are assessing this massive rearrangement of the means of production of *all information* solely on the basis of its transactional utility to them as an individual

people with long histories of being deeply critical of big tech companies are suddenly going "why are people being weird about AI" and I try very hard not to get conspiratorial but it just looks "odd"

people who are well aware of the tech industry's existing relations with labour politics, surveillance, warfare, discrimination, exploitation, extraction, censorship, disinformation, etc, are all of a sudden acting like critics of AI are only critical due to being uninformed. it is *mind baffling*
