I think apart from publicity the reason is that the only legal way to kill it would be to shoot it which is legally difficult inside the city. Hence the huge amount of boars in Berlin.

Coincidentally I today watched a YouTube video where a guy explained how to tell Allium ursinum from vaguely similar plants. No news really for me, but he also explained that the garlic smell can be transferred by the collector's hands to the lookalike.
