1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧡

Oh, yeah, that's a good reason. I looked at her last firm but I didn't see the pic on mobile. That's wild, then.

I can't find any source that indicates that.

I non-pros'ed a lot of cases where there was evidence that the guy was a scumbag and maybe lying about something, but not evidence that he committed the alleged offense.

Le is unable to competently handle her caseload and unprofessionally broke down about it. Everyone agrees on that.

Yeah I read it again, you're right. She simply never wrote the court a response. She was maybe trying to explain the "safety concern" in her answer but that wasn't the court's question.

Totally agree she was caught in incompetence and embarrassed, so she prevaricated when she should've owned up.

In the absence of other compelling evidence? Yes, absolutely.

I've done both prosecution and defense, yes. I asked for clarification, he provided it, and I accepted it.

Ok, fair enough, I believe you. She is responsible for what she's signed. Benefit of the doubt significantly retracted.

told him the bogus reasons someone had told her were "safety concerns." When the court tells you you don't have to say it, and then you do eventually, that's really not being evasive.

05.02.2026 05:38 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The judge specifically said she *didn't* have to get into the reasons in open court. He asked why it wasn't communicated timely and she gave a very bad reason, but she wasn't evasive. She then hesitated to get into the "safety concerns" since he had just said she didn't have to. And then she

According to the transcript she's had computer access for like 3 weeks at this point and she elevated the cases to the actual AUSA who apparently wasn't helping. If the agency doesn't want to comply, I don't know what magic button a SAUSA could have pressed to make things happen.

Yeah, throwing the paralegal under the bus was unprofessional. She's not a good attorney. I fully agree with that.

05.02.2026 05:25 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Have you seen something signed by her that says that?

05.02.2026 05:23 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And you're throwing out most of the actual evidence to condemn her for two choices you only imagine the context and motivations for.

Maybe you're right, but that's hardly an evidence-based conclusion. I find that kind of knee-jerk villainizing a little disconcerting.

a fascist who is trying to fool... someone in the courtroom, I guess, since she had no reason to think this would go viral and even if she did it's not clear to what end.

No, Occam's razor doesn't cut that way at all.

and that she's trying to get all these dozens and dozens of people free in a way that will obviously get her fired (and has). That sounds like a naive gov't attorney who thought they could do more good on the inside and has been gutted to discover how wrong they were and is telling the court so, not

05.02.2026 05:04 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

It requires a lot more steps to conclude that she's personally on ICE's side but is eagerly telling the court they are violating court orders, they keep giving her wrong/out-of-date information, and they make little to no attempt to consider the Constitution, that she is scared for her own family,

05.02.2026 05:04 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

non-fascist reasons to do so including, as she alluded to, thinking that you will be able to exercise discretion over cases in ways that are favorable to petitioners. Again, not great judgment, but a very normal thing for gov't lawyers to think and consistent with the evidence in the transcript.

05.02.2026 05:04 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yes? ICE has made every step of the deportation process much, much more horrific since then. From mass unconstitutional arrests to CECOT. US immigration policy always bad, but there's no question that it's worse now.

I question her judgement in taking the SAUSA job, but there are lots of

You think she's trying to pull the wool over our eyes by asking a federal court to hold her in contempt?

I don't think there's any reason to think a Biden-era ICE attorney who's a POC is necessarily a fascist sympathizer. Maybe not the greatest judgment, but I think she's being pretty candid.

All in all, while Le's frustrated asides got the most attention, this hearing is most shocking for how little control there is over ICE. Even an experienced and respected AUSA like Anna Voss can't get them within a mile of compliance.

Since day 1 of the Trump admin it has been Christmas for Criminals and the problem only gets worse. The whole federal law enforcement apparatus has been reassigned to repression and generating social media content.

Josh Shapiro is a disgusting worm. Krasner’s opinion here should be the message of every elected democrat in the U.S.

Its like judges are foresworn from ever seeing or acknowledging lawfare or the notion that they might, for once in their lives, have to use force in the service of punching up, not punching down.

the president of the united states should not be allowed to personally loot the treasury to the sum of ten billion dollars and that this is not resulting in immediate, unanimous impeachment is a dramatic indictment of what has become of our political system

There are people with principled takes on the 2nd Amendment, like the 1st.

But if you ever believed that the American Right broadly supported 2nd Amendment rights, as opposed to rights for people who agreed with them, you are a fool.

Following the killing of AFGE Member Alex Pretti and the subsequent slanderous rhetoric that followed from top Trump administration officials, AFGE National President Everett Kelley issued the following statement:

β€œYesterday, AFGE brought together labor and faith leaders from Minneapolis and across the nation to mourn our fallen brother from Local 3669, Alex Pretti. We honored his life and legacy and lifted up his family, his friends, his union, Minneapolis, and our nation in prayer.

β€œToday, we demand accountability.

β€œIn the immediate aftermath of Alex’s killing, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem betrayed the public trust by slandering the good name of our union brother and calling him a β€œdomestic terrorist.” Alex Pretti was a patriotic ICU nurse at a VA hospital who devoted his life to serving America’s veterans. That claim was reckless, defamatory, and unsupported by the facts. Noem was preceded in this false statement by Stephen Miller, Deputy White House Chief of Staff, who is also the architect of the chaotic and failed immigration policy in Minnesota.

β€œOur demand is clear: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was responsible for carrying out the policy that led to Alex’s needless killing, and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, the architect of that policy, must resign immediately. If they refuse, President Trump must dismiss them.

It's not just that these professional politics observers somehow failed to spot the obvious rise of American nativist thuggery.

It's how much energy they devoted to arguing the real problem was the volume, tone, and vocabulary of those raising the alarm about it.
