Oh, good! Mystery solved!
New podcast episode w/ @cleolinda.bsky.social ! We discuss Florence + the Machine's latest album, "Everybody Scream," including the major life events that influenced the writing of the album, Florence Welch's style, and the finer points of art appreciation/intepretation.
youtu.be/jSU1piMZCi0?...
No problem! Something really similar happened where someone asked about Joan of Arcadia fic, and I'd never watched that either. I may have a doppelgänger out there...
I was, but I've never watched House, so I don't think that was me? I was there starting in 2003 though, yeah.
I have heard such horrific things about this movie. I don't even know if I can deal with it. So yeah, that sounds about right.
Oh, WOW. (Yeah, we had squirrels living in the old house, so you're not wrong.) That is honestly an ORDEAL.
Good LORD.
Our next episode in the next week or so is actually about Florence + the Machine. Here's the first 4 (newest to oldest). youtube.com/playlist?lis...
Due to ice, fire, and spinal problems, I can't get out to the theater, so I'm not going out to see the movie adaptation. I think Ian and I will watch it on streaming for podcast purposes but I have Heard Things and I am very scared.
I'm so behind on the writeup that I just went ahead and posted the SH2 remake commentary 9 video without it. Playlist has short clips and things I referenced. youtube.com/playlist?lis...
More of the attic/roof was damaged than previously known. Flesh Portal discovered. Not getting much work done. Still compiling list of items damaged and/or haunted www.tumblr.com/cleolinda/80...
Tiny Fire, Day 27: Contractors still debating with claims adjuster (who is being very reasonable). Very little repair work done. Walls will have to be stripped and rebuilt/painted. Sharing a room with my mom. Ice storm went fine though
Oh nooooo
While that may be true, I think I'm going to have to take this one day at a time, starting with the adjuster seeing everything for the first time tomorrow.
Oh God. At this point, it's only the upstairs, especially since the fire was put out within minutes. But that doesn't bode well for me getting back to my bedroom soon.
Omg, the guy this summer literally said "Your house could have burned down at any point over the last 25 years" too! And I didn't worry about it after that!
It's fine. We're fine.
Yes, my therapist can see me soon.
I'm also really, really paranoid about another fire starting (we may have to rewire the entire house. Long story), about being able to see as much of the house as I can, being able to hear small noises, not wanting to leave the house, not wanting to sleep.
Like, I'm fine, you know? I saw (!) the fire start, we got out immediately, fire department was a hop and a skip away, put out quickly, no one hurt. It's just very disconcerting and kind of depressing to think about how much the upstairs may have to be gutted. Maybe not much!
Waiting game. Insurance guy will be here tomorrow. Smoke (wood smoke?) smell is actually WORSE upstairs than it was the night of the fire. My bedroom was aired out better, but I still can't sleep there until it's checked out. Bathroom still hosting a pile of burnt insulation.
I've signal boosted it here and on tumblr; I hope people see it
Yeah, I think it's basically a sprayable baking soda concept. Because our fire was in the ceiling, and no amount of tossing handfuls of powder at it would have helped.
yeah
Thank you--it's mostly "look how close we came to something REALLY bad happening." Well. Also the chemical damage. But. Thank you!
Yeah, and definitely look into getting different TYPES of extinguishers, because we didn't have one for electrical fires per se. Our house was built (badly) in the late '80s, and we've had to fix it over the years as we went. Just didn't know about this part.
Thank you so much, because the "still need taking care of" is 80% of this. We'll get through it because what else can you do, you know?
Ah. There's a charred roof support. Wonderful.
Insurance Guy can come next week.
Okay, I will preface this with the GIGANTIC disclaimer that I promise I know how this looks, and I *swear* this is not personally motivated: If you have an old #LiveJournal account, and it has things you still care about in it, download it or import it to Dreamwidth SOON. Details:
Yeah, I'll pass that on to other people. I THINK I ported everything over to DW
