An incredible collection of stories by one of my favorite cartoonists!!!

All played in that space and tried to foster new voices... Peow and Koyama obviously were doing that work at a very high level

Frontier came about exactly to serve that length, a home for short stories etc

Koyamacore makes some sense for this space / format / sensibility in terms of foundational press that went after floppies and that length of book... but that still seems to only capture a swatch of what was happening in early 2000s

Oily Comics, Sparkplug, Adhouse, us, retrofit, bodega, and more

There's been a deficit of venues for small and medium length comics for a long time... The anthology magazines that gave "short stories" a venue for testing the waters and developing new voices dried up right after the alt weeklies, etc

haven't posted here in a while but!

Next show for Youth in Decline is Comic Arts LA in December and there will be a LOT of exciting news to share

The Dept. of Justice has removed a study showing that white supremacist and far-right violence “continues to outpace all other types of terrorism and domestic violent extremism” in the U.S.

This one feels perfect for our family and my daughter - we just watched the Rulette episode of Game Changer and she was howling

Life is more important than books, but I do want to say that I appreciate Star Fruit's place in the industry. They license such cool books that would otherwise go missed.
I found Minami Q-ta thru them, and they've published Hideshi Hino too.

For sure, not to whine about little purchases but right now i have an order from UK's Lock Books that is halted and lost in transit, and couldn't make planned orders from Kus or HDK records this week I wanted to support

It's the suddenness of the change with no warning. The uncertainty and erratic nature of changes to businesses that have their production costs and shipping costs etc planned months in advance

Goes without saying but even 'temporarily" halting all shipments to the US shows that they screwed this up

Exactly, the chilling effect is already happening at small publishers we know in EU

if you've ever run a mail order, you know that any changes to shipping rates, let alone losing the ability to send orders to entire countries... that uncertainty alone can completely tank and shutter your business
