Has anyone here found a way to leave the world of K-12 teaching and do something else? I ask because I am going through burnout and I am not sure how I will make it through to retirement.

All in all, I can't imagine not having fandom as a coping mechanism and a safe space as a teenager. Despite the many online friendships that didn't survive the test of time, I'd still say that.

I've been in therapy for a lot of this stuff lately. I didn't realize I had such bad abandonment issues as a result of fandom friends tapping out on me because they couldn't handle me being a survivor but I really did.

If I put myself in those friends' shoes, I know that I would feel very helpless and frustrated that my friend is going through this horrible shit day in day out. I had many folks tap out on me and ice me out which was its own trauma.

This was actually my case when I found fandom and began befriending ppl online as a teenager. I learned very quickly that what I was facing at home wasn't normal at all. The downside was/is that many of these friendships didn't last.

i just feel like every step of the way in my life so far, i never had the luxury to really look out for myself. i want to change that this year and find peace and positivity.

idt ill change who i am because i am a soft-spoken person by default irl. but i have been developing coping strategies and resilience for some of the tougher situations that have been thrown at me especially post-pandemic at work

in 3 weeks, i will be commencing year 11 of being in the classroom. i hope all the work i have been doing on myself in therapy will help.

i never realized how much i would talk/rant abt everyone and when my therapist pointed out that i barely talk abt myself it was extremely uncomfortable

i haven't gotten this far before and it's been enlightening because i have to talk abt hard things and i am getting a very different perspective

It’s finally here. The colors are so bright and perfect. The publisher said yes to matte black card edges! I cannot believe how nicely this came out. Llewellyn knocked it out of the park here.

So today is release day for the first volume of ‘Joyful Reunion’ by Arise Zhang/Fei Tian Ye Xiang!! As a lifelong BL fan who’s also a gay guy, it was an honor beyond measure to work on this particular series (even in a minor role) with the amazing translators Suika, Mimi, and yunyun.

one thing that social media has done to make writing more boring is encouraging people to minimize the ways in which they're inconsistent, unfair, illogical, messy. to be clear, the responsibility of the boring writing this pressure inspires remains on the writer. you gotta just write it anyway

i think the correct way to think about the lonely boy question is not "how do we reach out to incels?" but "how do we make sure that a teenage boy looking for romantic advice isn't flooded with right-wing propaganda?"

using ai to write curriculum is ... like thats a document i need to refer to over and over again to understand the expectations ,,,, thats wild 🙃

thanks. i understand that burnout is largely driving the ai mania. but we have to try to fight ai being used as a solution to combat educator burnout.

he uses it to write report card comments and admits that he thinks its scary abt how he's training ai to do his job but he's like it saves me time and Gets Me Home Faster

read this yesterday and it left me with a sinking feeling about how successful this ideology has been in infiltrating everything from corporatized media to fandom and independent publishing. every awful thing in this article attributed to the far right has been said to me by left-leaning queer folk.

everything from "this makes me uncomfortable so it should not exist," to "the fact this exists in fiction at all is endorsement," to "this fiction physically hurt me." at some point the dots need to be connected and we should speak candidly about how pervasive this has become. it's (everywhere.)
