Has anyone here found a way to leave the world of K-12 teaching and do something else? I ask because I am going through burnout and I am not sure how I will make it through to retirement.

22.09.2025 00:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0All in all, I can't imagine not having fandom as a coping mechanism and a safe space as a teenager. Despite the many online friendships that didn't survive the test of time, I'd still say that.
21.09.2025 19:19 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've been in therapy for a lot of this stuff lately. I didn't realize I had such bad abandonment issues as a result of fandom friends tapping out on me because they couldn't handle me being a survivor but I really did.
21.09.2025 19:17 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If I put myself in those friends' shoes, I know that I would feel very helpless and frustrated that my friend is going through this horrible shit day in day out. I had many folks tap out on me and ice me out which was its own trauma.
21.09.2025 19:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This was actually my case when I found fandom and began befriending ppl online as a teenager. I learned very quickly that what I was facing at home wasn't normal at all. The downside was/is that many of these friendships didn't last.
21.09.2025 19:13 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So glad I could answer some questions about this book. Teachers are the antidote to the moment we're in. My new book highlights individual stories about how they go above and beyond.

17.09.2025 02:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0D but to be fair, i am curious abt E and F bc of lack of exposure to their cuisines and wish i could try
17.09.2025 02:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i know the world is difficult these days. but ,,,, i want a little bubble of joy and i am gonna try my best to make it
16.08.2025 04:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0i just feel like every step of the way in my life so far, i never had the luxury to really look out for myself. i want to change that this year and find peace and positivity.
16.08.2025 04:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0idt ill change who i am because i am a soft-spoken person by default irl. but i have been developing coping strategies and resilience for some of the tougher situations that have been thrown at me especially post-pandemic at work
16.08.2025 04:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0in 3 weeks, i will be commencing year 11 of being in the classroom. i hope all the work i have been doing on myself in therapy will help.
16.08.2025 04:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i never realized how much i would talk/rant abt everyone and when my therapist pointed out that i barely talk abt myself it was extremely uncomfortable
16.08.2025 04:22 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i haven't gotten this far before and it's been enlightening because i have to talk abt hard things and i am getting a very different perspective
16.08.2025 04:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i have been working with a therapist for the past 3 months and uh .... learned a lot about myself
16.08.2025 04:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I took a video so you can see just how vibrant the cards are, especially with the matte black edges π₯
13.08.2025 16:10 β π 9 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0Hand holding a box containing the Lubanko Tarot, a deck of cards and book by E. Lubanko.
Brightly-colored tarot cards, including three versions of the Lovers card.
Showcasing matte black edges on good cardstock cards.
Tarot box is open to show the full-color guidebook. Box rests on a black and grey altar cloth.
Itβs finally here. The colors are so bright and perfect. The publisher said yes to matte black card edges! I cannot believe how nicely this came out. Llewellyn knocked it out of the park here.
13.08.2025 16:09 β π 44 π 19 π¬ 4 π 1So today is release day for the first volume of βJoyful Reunionβ by Arise Zhang/Fei Tian Ye Xiang!! As a lifelong BL fan whoβs also a gay guy, it was an honor beyond measure to work on this particular series (even in a minor role) with the amazing translators Suika, Mimi, and yunyun.
05.08.2025 19:41 β π 64 π 16 π¬ 2 π 2today i left my car in the parking lot and took the bus everywhere i needed to go instead. when i came home, i noticed i hit my step count. that was nice.
05.08.2025 23:17 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0one thing that social media has done to make writing more boring is encouraging people to minimize the ways in which they're inconsistent, unfair, illogical, messy. to be clear, the responsibility of the boring writing this pressure inspires remains on the writer. you gotta just write it anyway
02.08.2025 15:24 β π 402 π 44 π¬ 4 π 3i think the correct way to think about the lonely boy question is not "how do we reach out to incels?" but "how do we make sure that a teenage boy looking for romantic advice isn't flooded with right-wing propaganda?"
01.08.2025 20:25 β π 10805 π 1788 π¬ 270 π 148I wrote about the fantasy that we can teach children how to use AI responsibly in schools when the adults outside them are not.
02.08.2025 10:27 β π 78 π 22 π¬ 4 π 4using ai to write curriculum is ... like thats a document i need to refer to over and over again to understand the expectations ,,,, thats wild π
02.08.2025 05:24 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0thanks. i understand that burnout is largely driving the ai mania. but we have to try to fight ai being used as a solution to combat educator burnout.
02.08.2025 05:22 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0he uses it to write report card comments and admits that he thinks its scary abt how he's training ai to do his job but he's like it saves me time and Gets Me Home Faster
02.08.2025 05:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0if you want to share ,,,, cuz ive got a Believer in my dept,,, and he scoffs outright at any talk of environmental impact ,,,
02.08.2025 05:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0i already had one too many "how to leverage ai" pds last year
02.08.2025 05:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I like how this piece broadens beyond βpuriteensβ and βmetooβ discourse into issues of self-surveillance and identity.
The modern internet has made us see ourselves from the outside rather than experiencing ourselves from the inside
read this yesterday and it left me with a sinking feeling about how successful this ideology has been in infiltrating everything from corporatized media to fandom and independent publishing. every awful thing in this article attributed to the far right has been said to me by left-leaning queer folk.
20.07.2025 14:45 β π 1224 π 580 π¬ 3 π 0everything from "this makes me uncomfortable so it should not exist," to "the fact this exists in fiction at all is endorsement," to "this fiction physically hurt me." at some point the dots need to be connected and we should speak candidly about how pervasive this has become. it's (everywhere.)
