Obey this one simple rule to find out!

Does anyone have contact info for the ghosts of Christmas?

Ok, but maybe he just needs more money to be happy

Is socialism and Appalachia close enough? If so try Bisson’s Fire on the Mountain

Just hope they don’t turn up in the Epstein files

Or the superbowl

No, but there’s time to end the influence of the wealthy and corporations on elections and government

Hard no. We got fascism because we have a poor education system and because corporations to donate unlimited money to sell bad politicians. Once you prevent some from voting because say they are β€œdummies” you’re well on your way to fascism already

So gas taxes aren’t the problem

It’s gotta be Edam. The cheese answer is always Edam.

That it’s really hard to predict the future, so even with their non-trivial mathematical skill and ancient wisdom, the Mayans were over a decade off on the end of the world?

It’s not a β€œdispute.” It’s extortion. Call it what it is.

To clarify for anyone who is confused: the Duwamish is actually the Green plus the Black, or at least it was when the Black was still a thing. And the White’s not generally involved, unless something bad happens

This is right about one thing: the uncertainty over liability is bad. Corporations shouldn’t worry about the risk of prosecution; they should expect it will happen, even if images are removed. Giving them immunity if they follow β€œbest practices” is just another corporate bailout

I mean, it is less than a 7% error. In some areas of machine learning that’s pretty good

Ok, but we in Seattle haven’t had progressive leadership in a long time. The last progressive mayor was Mike McGinn, more than a decade ago, and the city council currently has, what, one reliable progressive? That will change somewhat next year, but don’t blame progressives for the state of Seattle

What’s the better messaging? I’m honestly curious. I thought β€œdefund” was pretty good, but the right willfully misrepresented it and the Democratic leadership let them

In the one case I’m personally familiar with, a friend with glioblastoma was literally going to lose her mind over the course of months. There was no treatment. There was no cure. She’d gone through a hint of it before, was facing inevitable insanity, and was terrified

I’m not sure how it would be a β€œpathway for coerced euthanasia”. We had such laws in Washington (where I live) for 16 years, and elsewhere for longer. I have never heard anyone suggest it

Yes, and, there are wealthier countries in which one doesn’t need a car just to buy groceries

Which makes for a fun party trick if you’re out hiking with friends, something you absolutely can’t do with, say, poison ivy. You can pick some nettles (with protection), crush them thoroughly, and pop them in your mouth for a nice snack

But overall, a great reminder on the fuzziness of many words and messiness of evolution. One of my favorite quotes from a teacher is β€œall plants are deciduous, but some are more deciduous than others.”

Nice! Though English ivy is definitely a woody vine (speaking as someone who’s removed invasive ivy from hundreds of trees) that switches to shrub in its reproductive form
