Interesting question. Not much different. I use voice dictation for writing both. Mainly mysteries need more clues and red herrings – everyone should be guilty of something! In romance, it’s about two people who think they can’t be together figuring out how they can (and must) make it work.

Things have changed the years. I like the online discussion site now. There are MANY zoom writing workshops! You could get bogged down in taking too many classes and not actually writing, but it’s a good way to learn. (I also have an online, on-demand plotting class: chriseboch.com/for-writers/ )

Read mysteries, think about what you know (maybe not murder, but do you have a cool job or hobby that your MC could share?), and join Sisters in Crime.
