30.10.2025 01:32 β π 164 π 49 π¬ 3 π 6Apparently itβs going to be opened around 2031. By then itβs possible the GO service operations may allow the stopping at this station.
But isnβt it kinda ridiculous we didnβt plan for this??
Weβre going have to rename it the UPL (Union-Pearson Local).
What a joke.

A common complaint is that the white flexi-posts posts are ugly, thatβs all. I get the purpose and versatility of course.
Are they going to be the hard black bollards or those white flexi-posts? Would be a shame to reconstruct the road, only to put in those flexi-posts.
24.10.2025 15:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Iβm curious why the standard switched? Didnβt it used to be the slightly elevated curb or the rolled curb?

23.10.2025 22:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A road diet wouldβve been preferred imo but Iβm guessing staff were forced to rethink the project without removing road lanes and this is still a pretty good outcome.

13.10.2025 17:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Upcoming years will likely include stations in this area along trails or cycling infrastructure and the plan is for all parts of the city to have access to bike share.
11.10.2025 16:05 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The 4-year expansion plan was based on current and future infrastructure but also a lot on equity and income. Central Etobicoke did not receive any new stations AFAIK due to how high the income in that area is and the demographics. The plan was based to give access to people who needed it the most.
11.10.2025 16:05 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 2 π 1And again, cameras wouldnβt be needed if every street in Canada was a street in the Netherlands but we donβt have money to make every street safe right now. Road design is crucial but cameras are a vital first step in bringing a safety and accountability culture in Canadian drivers, even if annoying
07.10.2025 01:59 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Speed cameras were a win-win for road safety, less police resources needed, improved driver behaviour, keeping people safe, improving accountability & removing bias in enforcement and we still lost.
Thanks Doug. Now everyoneβs going to start speeding again everywhere, but worse, in front of schools
Like any genuine enforcement of the speed limit is unfair, according to many drivers. That speed limits are just minimums and itβs okay to go over
You also find some drivers complain about anything that slows them down or makes it harder to drive. But honestly, drivers hardly pay attention to signs
I was driving from work when I noticed a police officer in his cruiser with a radar gun. Not hidden but not in plain sight
I was going the speed limit so I was fine but I was thinking, even if we only had police officers instead of cameras, weβd still have drivers say that enforcement is unfair
Noticed this was the City of Toronto.
30.09.2025 21:12 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 1Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!
It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.
It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!

15.09.2025 03:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love how KW is so chill with their railways and their interactions with pedestrians/cyclists. Many municipalities would lose their butts at the potential thought of someone walking 10m near an an abandoned railway.
11.09.2025 00:55 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0I was having this thought for a few days but I think now itβs even more fitting,
Putting up more signs or lights as a way to reduce speeding and road violence is about as effective as thoughts and prayers for reducing gun violence.
Working as a transit planner at a transit agency is pretty darn cool. Highly recommend.
