I was thinking if there was this much demand, they need way more bike share in the region.
So I uh…made something 🫢
Interchanges like here (Eglinton) are going to be awful and I think a lot of people are already thinking when we’re going to see the next trains that can actually handle the loads and most importantly, circulation and egress.
(From doors opening to train departing, it was around 1min 30s.)
I feel like Toronto’s regretting having a vehicle that constrains the flow of passengers this bad. Single doors means one at a time. Getting off the train is also nearly impossible at busy times. There’s just very little circulation.
This was from opening day. Imagine during actual rush hour.
I was hoping for a tad more colour. The colours I saw for the station name accent were Orange and then Gray…Dark Gray…and Black. I wanted a bit more colour and the walls are totally sterile. Just needs something other than the all white.
I literally almost missed my connecting bus that’s only every 20 minutes.
Holy shit the Eglinton Line stopped at EVERY FREAKING SIGNAL 🤬
We got to a stop, we stopped for a lot of time, by the time we depart, the next signal is red. We wait for cross traffic, then we wait for the left turning traffic, then we go, then we stop to pick up passengers. It’s ridiculous.
When’s the iPad app coming out 😭
Yeah, it was a pain and super slow to get off the train at Eglinton. It was basically single file.
This is going to make egress so slow and annoying at interchange stations.
Clearly this was not thought of when they decided on the rolling stock.
Unicycles only.
Yeah, it’s mainly many of the bike lanes and cycle tracks I see that have not been cleared. The multi-use paths have been cleared. But alas, my experience has mostly been by the university.
Have you noticed the snow clearing’s been awful this season in KW? It’s usually really good but the bike lanes and cycle tracks are just not cleared. Definitely discouraged me from taking my bike out.
Yeah, there is so much to takeaway here in terms of the idea of flow.
You don’t need to, you need to convince the premier.
Yeah, and the city’s proactively implementing quick build curb extensions everywhere.
Daylighting is not an issue in Canada like it is in the US.
I’ll make a thread later
I have so much to say about my time here in CDMX. The urban planning, the transportation systems and complete streets.
Shits on Toronto any day. Our politicians are cowards.
This coulda been Olivia Chow
SpEeD bUmPs though!
By Ontario, I mean Ontario, Canada 😅
Just finished an internship at a relatively small transit agency in Ontario. It was actually quite informative and eye-opening. Happy to answer any questions.
Thank you!!
"Conspiracy theorist relieved that proposed local amenities have been voted against and will now be a 30 minute drive away."
As drivers we love this. It’s awkward to block the bike lane and sidewalk when we often need to for visibility and to see if there’s vehicles.
As a cyclist, it can be minorly annoying but I accept the safety benefit.
Any places I should visit in Mexico City?
Wow, that’s impressive. That’s all it took.
Finished my term at Guelph Transit (Planning and Scheduling team). Did a lot, saw a lot and learned a lot!
Now back to class in the new year.
Yes I made the headsign.
If you’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to these past few months…
This map just tells me how tiny PEI is
