(A complete meltdown by a pitcher probably is #2, though…)

Nah: games like this are won more often on homers than anything else.

That figure always made me think of Escher…

My bet: 50:50, or some number well within the expectations of flipping a fair coin N time.

I'm afraid that your liver might have to take a few more hits for the team.

And now it's back to ~50:50. Hopefully the extra day of rest will help Shota.

Evamgelicals, really: and although they call themselves β€œProtestant,” the mainline Protestants disown them.

Well, the home team always gets 27 outs at least! 😎

I was wondering about that!

Let's hope that Peralta keeps throwing recognizable pitches!

Haven't you ever witness the "Good Christian Pop?"

It's sort of like that exploding whale, but grosser.

There are very few occasions in which I think that the phrase "I'd rather put a gun in my mouth" is really appropriate, but this is one of them.

After all, there is nothing a batter can do to make a pitcher throw a pitch that the batter can instantly recognize.

Having been watching baseball for nearly as long, that's how it's been all the while I've been watching. A team lights up one pitcher, or a starter loses it for one inning, and then the next reliever comes in or the starter figures out how he was tipping his pitches, and the batters get blown away.

The only momentum in baseball is next inning's pitcher, and Milwaukee's pitching other than Priester's was great. This was a game where one pitcher's bad performance cost his team the victory.

Dumb moves by both managers. But it’s probably dumber from Counsell (but still stupid from Murphy): either teams’ #4 starters probably would have pitches better than either Boyd or Peralta will.

Rea should have started Game 1. Over postseason history, #4 starters have done better than have #1 starters on short rest, and Rea has been better than your average #4 starters all year.

(That might sound like a backhanded compliment, but it really is not!)

One of the reason why we are in this mess is that the vast majority of Americans see no problem with this statement.

Meanwhile, a huge proportion of Dodgers’ fans think that last night was LA’s only chance to win their series: they’ve already pencilled in loses in Games 4 & 5.

Baseball fans are hysterical… 😎

If only Hoyer had acquired one of those big name starters that was not actually on the trade block and who did not pitch all that well after the trade deadline….

I’d like the Quakers if it weren’t for the whole β€œno booze” thing. Of course, they aren’t strictly trinitarian, so maybe they got kicked out of Christianity the way that the Unitarians seem to have been?

I've read theologists state that the new testament provides the basis for 3 distinct religions (corresponding roughly to Lutheranism, Arminianism and Calvinism), plus any number of religions that try to juggle the three (e.g., Anglicanism, Catholicism, Orthodox, Coptic, etc.). And, of course, all…
