Finally saw Fantastic Four over the weekend. The art direction and storyline were both hugely appealing, but the actors make the movie. There are moments in Superman I loved more intensely, but as an overall story experience, I liked F4 better. (I know, the MCU as a whole will sleep better tonight.)

I'm so very tired of living in a stinky cloud of opinion from people who are worried about the optics of the ugly rug in the guest bathroom while the house is burning down around them. Also tired of watching venal opportunists being perceived as spineless cowards. They ain't scared; they're greedy.

The layers aren't blended. The background is a textile-type texture; the dragon is polished metallic, and the text is solid color. Those three things can work together, and the layout and the font and art choices are spot on. But it needs to be better integrated. (good title!)

Looking at a melancholy week ahead. I got accepted as a pro at DragonCon in Atlanta this weekend, but I had to withdraw because I can't afford the trip. And it's a good thing because I can afford it even less now. But I'm very, very bummed to miss it. So I'll be feeling sorry for myself all week.
