NEH's budget is tiny—not just compared to NSF/NIH, but compared to humanities funding in every other wealthy nation. Well that was fun, have a guest lecture in @hanspols.bsky.social class today and tonight talking at the @anzshm.bsky.social NSW branch AGM! Hanging around my old stomping ground Newtown in between.

Well I just received an invite to be a keynote at this years Australian College of Mental Health nurses conference, because of my work in the history of mental health. It's nice to be valued for your historical work instead of maligned for it, for a change.
I feel like I can actually read for pleasure again!
Went shopping in Sydney today and bought some books at my favourite store. Catching up on all the great Aussie writers I couldn’t get in the US.
Headed to Sydney for a week of talks and teaching and seeing old friends
