It grows here, I think it just doesn't survive the winter, which honestly is fine given the invasive risk
nah, I think it's closer to 1 in every 4 described species of animal is a beetle (still an utter shit ton of beetles)
If you think I am going to write this section about beetles and not spend 1/3 of it talking about lightning bugs you don't know me at all.
(but seriously how am I supposed to spend only one spread talking about beetles? That's too many unique dazzling little creatures for one page)
surely not
Sometimes I see these headlines about Mamdani and I need to check to see if the headlines are AI because I'll be like "No that... that's too nice" and they're always real, and like... Look i know they say don't love a politician, and I am TRYING, buuuuutttttttt
Doodles from the bar last night.
either's good! I think we landed on the native passionflower because it looks the same as the tropical one, Lantana camara, and maybe a hibiscus tossed in there.
Somebody just give him my number already! ha haaaaa I'm jookinggggg i'm joking (am i joking??)
There’s a shit ton of Puerto Rican gardeners here I just hesitate to bug anyone and tend to ask the audience here first 😅 I’m perpetually worried about being a pain in the ass lol
oh i knew all good lol
Literally me on any social media platform
sick this is perfect. I ran it by one of the community members and he loves this one, so its a perfect fit!!
We are extremely vibe aligned.
yeah i was thinking about that one... I was wondering 1) how they'd feel about a native hibiscus 2) if this one would for sure die over the winter
Eh, it's ok, I don't think i want to change the planters much. We talked about maybe painting them, but nothing major there.
Yes! Emailed Andrea about these plants too, but not yet about the planter situation specifically. Will check out this article! thank you
The plants need to be not-huge because these planters are like... 2 feet deep-ish? maybe 2 or 3 feet across? Not too huge.
I am not interested in your opinion that putting plants not from PA is bad. Doing community work like this sometimes means you gotta compromise. If you don't like it, you go out into a gentrifying neighborhood and try to change how the park looks and see how far you get. I don't wanna hear it.
They want to balance my native plant adds with plants from Puerto Rico.
**What plants are from PR, not huge, and can handle getting COOKED (hot AND dry).***
It's v important that the park maintain its Puerto Rican identity. Seeing that reflected in the plants is important.
Got a unique challenge. I'd love input from people who are familiar with the plant life of Puerto Rico & the horticulture trade.
I've been volunteering with a park group, adding more native plants in specific areas of the park.
We're about to refurb planters, which are concrete & get hot as hell.
This work is made possible because many people support us monthly!

$5 a month really adds up when there are a lot of people doing it!!
Hell yeah, got a write up in Billy Penn about the @wednightrides.org @skypeascientist.bsky.social collab.
Cyclists chucked seed bombs in abandoned lots last week. Wholesome as hell.

The crocs and “the fit was crazy” took me out
Electric cars make a spooky little tone, so they don’t sneak up on anyone. Good in theory, but the spectral tone they landed on is not my fave
Yes and yes!
Coconut clops would be just the thing
This is exactly right
I’ll allow it!
Id be down with o fortuna. Right now its a bit spectral
