Cover of The Near and Distant World by Bianca Stone. A mountain range is at the center with a shadowy figure walking alongside the peak. Illustrated fire tops the mountain

“I hover in the indexes, the footnotes” (from the poem “Theory”). A collection that asks reader to sit in the metacognition of why we exist & the stories we tell. 206 release from @tinhouse.bsky.social #booksky

The book The Fire Inside: the Dahrma of James Baldwin and Audre Lorde held in front of a bus with tiny purple flowers. The book cover is free with photos of Audre Lorde and James Baldwin in front of a lotus flower.

There’s a little here for everyone: spiritual practice and meditation, literary analysis, reflection for healing, and re-tooled lessons in political engagement. New from North Atlantic Books. #booksky #newbooks

A copy of The World After the Rain by Canisia Lubrin. The cover is several shades of blue, with a rain pattern.

I was enchanted and grieving and wondering. I was lost and planted again. Grateful for this work and the challenge of it. Out from Soft Skull press. #poetry #booksky

Cover of Self Driving by Betty Fagin. A white, oblong spiral is pictured, on top on a background of layered abstract colors.

Winding, sometimes stream of consciousness type poetry. Phrases bump along uneven roads, sputter like a weary engine. Fagin’s poems ask you to trust the process, and know that we are shortcutting our way to an important place. Then, a revelation so bright you have to squint appears. #booksky

The book cover is pictured on the left side of the image, and a quote is on the right. The book cover is yellow with an image of the AI to or as a child smiling at the camera and wearing a large hat. The quote on the right says, “There is no name for those of us who choose to deport ourselves.
The Huddled Masses, yearning to breathe free from the nightmare of the American Dream. American Escapees. Refugees from America”

Read memoirs in summer. #JillDamatac #DirtyKitchen @atriabooks.bsky.social

The book Hardly Creatures by Rob Colgate is picked in front of a bush of white and pink flowers. The cover has a broken statue of a face, with a red salamander crawling across it.

Absolutely in love in with new collection, out tomorrow from @tinhouse.bsky.social . Hardly Creatures is a collection that focuses on disability, community, and so much more. The book is modeled to read like a walk through an accessible museum.

a hand holds up a copy of What Had Happened Was by Theri Pickens against a plant with dark pink flowers. The cover is various shades of pink, with a brown, ink-blot like repeating pattern of women whispering to each other.

A stunning book of poetry steeped in Black culture references.

The book Saving Five by Amanda Nguyen is propped up against a large black telescope. The book cover has a portrait of the author, a Vietnamese woman with long black hair wearing a pink sweater. There is a shadow effect behind her and stars overlaid on her hair.

This memoir is full of grief, but also with hope. Using an innovate structure, Nguyen tells the dual stories of how her experience of sexual assault led her into activism and the healing of her childhood trauma. #SavingFive #AmandaNguyen #Booksky #memoir

The book Fundamentally by Nussaibah Younis is pictured on a blue footstool. The book has a blue background and white title text with three spliced images of a pink feminine face. The bottom image of the face is blowing a bubble with gum.

Fundamentally is a book that surprised me. At first, I had a hard time sitting alongside the narrator, Nadia, whose brash and often offensive humor seemed like a defense mechanism that the reader didn’t have insight to. As I got more used to her & her naivety, layers of character were revealed.

the book Waiting for A Long Night Moon. The cover is purple with stars in the background and two overlapping images of the moon, one orange and one purple at the center.

This book is holds you in its heartache and examines how folks move through/in/around grief. Grief of losing family members, of having few options, even the grief of surviving.
