An image of a raku fired vase that has a tiered pedestal. It has shimmery irridescent greens, gold, blues reds and violets and some matte black areas from the reduction material.
A close up view of the lower right portion of the same vase where you can see the blues/purples and reddish hues.
A view of the other side of the vase.
This is a photo of the raku process. Several vases being placed in the flames, in a reduction bin. They are all on fire, as is the material in the bin.
Inspired by the cosmos. Born from the flames of raku. A symphony of light and movement captured.
'Skyfire' draws it inspiration from the shimmery irridescent greens, reds, golds and violets of the northern lights.

A raku pottery polar bear sculpture being pulled from the heat of reduction.
Polaris the Bear combines the magic of raku with the feeling of first snow on a starry night: crisp air, soft light, and that moment winter asks you to slow down.
A small reminder to breathe, wander, and let the season settle in, for soon spring will come.

Photo of a hand holding an original seascape oil painting by Tisha Mark, "Soft Peaceful Sunset No. 2601" 3"x3" oil on Arches oil paper (2026). A textured seascape painting with a light blue sky with orange sunset clouds over a dark blue sea with a rocky shore. Color from the sky reflects in the water below. A paint palette with puddles of oil paint, a paintbrush, and a palette knife are visible in the background.
Tiny and peaceful.

Awwww. That's adorable. Definitely we need a dog nebula. I'll have to see if there is one and if I can ever capture it.

We definitely can compare notes! No robins so far. It was -22 the other day, then plus 5 yesterday. Very big temperature swings lately. Grateful for more daylight though!

An image of the monkey head nebula (ngc2175). You can see numerous stars and an orange reddish cloud that some say resembles a monkey head.
The stars still inspire, even when the world gets me down.
Fortunately we had clear skies for about an hour one night last week.
What does this nebula resemble to you?

A three panel image of raku vases on a white background. In black text, the top of the image says 'Whispers of Raku'. At the bottom it says 'Alchemy'.
As part of my raku practice I often test glazes on smaller sized vases to help inform future work.
Pictured below are some new works that are from our last raku firing and are currently available for purchase.

Forged from stars, in fireβs glow,
Cosmic whispers softly flow.
Silent watcher, wise and true,
Made of stardust, just like you.
'Intergalactic Owl' whispers of our origins, guiding us to embrace the wisdom within and soar toward the infinite mysteries of the universe.

3 raku vases placed into the reduction container among flames
A little magic for your Saturday.
Within the kiln, where flames rise,
Draconis wakes with molten eyes.
Across its skin, raku fire streams,
A creation forged from potter's dreams.
From earth and flame its power is cast
Ancient breath in clay held fast.
