Set my alarm to wake me up in time for blood moon totality, but the weather had other ideas. Sky was clear enough at 11 pm to see the full moon so clouds moved in just in time to spoil the eclipse. 😫
Next viewing opportunity is on New Year's Eve 2028.
I heard on US news that it's not powder, but the dense & heavy wet snow we get here on the West Coast (the seldom times we get snow). Whoever offers their services to shovel that in such prodigious quantities will definitely earn that rate.
J'ai atteint une série de 3000 jours en français. 🥐

It appears that the adhesive backing of the sticker is *stronger* than the glue they use to adhere the paper foil to the substrate of the product itself. Very odd engineering indeed.
The sovereignty of the USA's neighbours should not be flippantly disregarded merely because US ownership of Greenland & Canada is 'psychologically important' for Trump to feel that his success has been achieved.
I hope our Prime Minister condemns these fantasies of his in no uncertain terms.
I saw this sequence from LOTR again recently & I find the thought of average men (not mighty heroes) spending years upon years of their lives atop frozen, lonely mountaintops, unfailingly vigilant for a signal, to be randomly motivating. Epic musical score helps too!

I was reading an article about how an app called, "Are You Dead?" has gone viral in China & has been downloaded by millions of young people who live alone. The user presses a check-in button every 2 days & if they fail to do so, their emergency contact is notified.
Pretty bleak.
I wish this special edition loonie would enter general circulation. A roll of 25 coins can be purchased from the Canadian Mint for just under $55, however.
Last night got a taste of the long wait times in BC emergency waiting rooms. 2 hours before my family member was seen & 3.5 hours waiting for results. This is in urban area.
I say 'taste' b/c we hear on the news about patients in rural ERs waiting 8+ hours before even being seen. Must be hell.
Perhaps make it like a measured DEFCON response. Begin with C, then A, B, and finally the nuclear option D if he continues to demonstrate an utter lack of consideration/self-awareness.
When the babies hatch they're so tiny & cute. I figure the odds are stacked against them & most won't survive to maturity anyway, like turtle hatchlings racing to the safety of the tide. I'd feel awful guilty about vacuuming them up before they had a fair crack at life.
On rare occasions I see a Daddy Longlegs mother with a cluster of eggs hanging out in a corner of the basement ceiling. I leave them be. Daddy Longlegs are totally harmless to us & property, & they prey on silverfish that do do damage to fabrics/books/wallpaper.
I don't really care for this "What's going on with Mariah" storyline that's going nowhere fast. At this point, maybe AI can craft a better plot thread than the writer.
And Victor should've given the slippery Matt Clark a nice pair of concrete mittens for the Wisconsin winter. 😆

We had fog in Vancouver on New Year's morning too. It might have spoiled the previous night's fireworks some, if this no-fun city had any. But our mayor is still cheerleading for Bitcoin. 🫤
I don't use mobile phones so I got a budget compact Canon SX620 HS in 2017, which I'd agree has since been outclassed by the average 2025 phone camera, that has a bigger sensor than the Canon's tiny 1/2.3".
This photo is of October's Harvest Moon.
Last three butter tarts of 2025.
For Christmas family potluck. Glazed with 🍁 honey therefore delicious with Dijon mustard and easy to make, even after using premade puff pastry for the first time.
I guess that the adage that social media is a highlight reel applies to felines too. 😄
-12°C feels like -18°C. Brrrrrr! Temps this low would be all over the news in the Lower Mainland; it's really only the rare sustained outflow of Arctic air that can penetrate the otherwise temperate regional microclimate here & bring the mercury down this low.
In bygone days we could be confident virulent groups like this would be forever on the margins, but after MAGA, Freedom Convoys, growing electoral support for far right European politicians, we can't be complacent about white nationalist ideologies.

A particularly ugly boil on the ugly face of Canadian hate.
Remigration is a scrubbed term for the violent deportation of non-whites to their countries of racial ancestry.
White people never migrated from elsewhere & are therefore exempted by the group. *heavy sarcasm*

One dollar bill from days of yore.
I don't bother anymore with following the daily play-by-play. No matter how egregious the latest development, nothing will stick, no hammer will drop.
Annie: "How do you take down a guy like that?"
Matt: "You just need the right weapon."
If Matt Clark wants to get nasty Victor Newman (and he is behaving most Grinch-like this Christmas) addicted to fentanyl, I'll root for the villain in that particular endeavour. 😈😄

5 years ago I took a chance on Remedy's paranatural adventure game 'Control' & was not disappointed in the least. Took up watching Y&R to see more performances from Courtney Hope, actress of Control's protagonist Jesse Faden. Just heard Control 2's release is next year. Will feel like full circle.
Coral hued clouds just now, as if tropically inspired by the atmospheric river known as the Pineapple Express (originating near Hawaii) presently flowing over southern BC.
It has been a very warm December day.
Following a smash hit of a company launch, CEO Sally Spectra arrives at the labyrinthine offices of what will be Abbott Communications, only to discover the building's previous occupant dead of an apparent suicide. Perhaps his company got wiped out by Cane's AI software too.

Positively stellar! Looks like a great sky in which to see the Geminids' peak.
