Most of the music I wrote in the 90s was for the Redgrave Theatre, Farnham. Richard II was dazzling, full of fanfares and violence; rather than let it gather dust when the show ended I arranged my music into a new piece for band. Hear it this weekend in Cambridge. theatricalia.com/play/1x/rich...
On a rainy day in York it's nice to learn that my Canzone Sospesa will be played in Hollywood by Christopher Healy (cello) and Dan West (piano) at Hollywood Piano, Pasadena on 24 Jan. Canzone Sospesa has already been heard in Milan and Washington DC; a UK premiere is on the cards for spring. #UYMP
A big shout out to Chris Caldwell of the @deltasax.bsky.social who has been busy in the studio, recording my 'Compendium of Ingenious Mechanical Devices', and music by @philipglass.bsky.social. I can't wait to hear them!!!
Back from Belgium, where Benjamin Maneyrol gave a stunning performance of my 'Jump Cut' at the wonderful Osmose Festival. Thanks also to curator Danielle Baas for such a warm welcome.
Off to Belgium next week to hear Benjamin Maneyrol perform my 'Jump Cut' at the Osmose Festival. Very much looking forward to hearing it again!
It's always exciting to hear about performances that have taken place around the world! So it was great to hear that Kelly Ann Bixby (sop) and Brett Landry (marimba) performed 'Gentle' at a 'Le Salon' concert at the Lafayette School of Music in Louisiana in September. I wish I could have been there!
When you discover that politicians want to relieve you of your hard-won humans rights (but they love flags!) it makes you wonder how they can seriously consider themselves 'populist'. Once again I smell dishonesty, and call it out for what it is.

Heading for Aylesbury today to hear the wonderful Amabile trio give the second performance of my Anatomy of Angels! It seems like an age since the première in York last year and I can't wait to hear it again!
I'm thrilled that my newly-published 'Fox' (from 'Bridges, Lines and Stones') will be part of the programme given by The Harrogate Band in their joint concert with Black Dyke Band at St Wilfred's, Harrogate tonight, and very much looking forward to hearing it again!

At last I've reached the double bar line of a new duo for flute and treble recorder, for Sarah McNulty and Carmen Troncoso. Mise en Abyme (the phenomenon in art and literature where something contains an image of itself, repeating into infinity) will be performed in October - details to follow.
At sunny Headingley today for day 1 of England v India test match. Hard work for our lads in the field...
Would rather see an ageing Jimmy, to be honest. Is this what we retired him for?

Can't wait to hear it! Take it easy, Chris. #inthedeepend #divein #touchthebottom
Thanks for your fabulous piece Jenny. I'm thinking about how to take this project forward from here - there need to be more performances of all this wonderful music.
It's amazing that my 'Swan' is included in this diverse 'Left of Center' podcast from the US. The 'Bowie, Berlin and Beyond' recording by the Delta Sax Quartet has taken my music to some interesting places. (Let me know if you still want a copy - not many left!) podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/5...
I have curated a concert to mark the 100th anniversary of Erik Satie's death, and commissioned some of my favourite composers to write new pieces in tribute. Also lots of real Satie! Do come along on Saturday 7th June. latemusic.org/duncan-honey...

No pictures can capture the incredible range of music and dance we witnessed on Saturday at Late Music Concerts, York, or the sublime fluency of the performances, but here are just a few shots from our rehearsal. Thanks to @musicontheedge.bsky.social and our fabulous dancers from NSCD.
A trip to Headingley today to see Messrs. Bairstow, Root and Brook in action. Wish I had brought a hat.
Coming up on Saturday, the first performance of my 'Compendium of Ingenious Mechanical Devices' for bass clarinet, percussion and dance, part of an astonishing weekend of new music at Late Music in York. latemusic.org/the-lapins-t...
Thanks to Harrogate Band for a fabulous performance of Fox on Saturday. This was I was commissioned in 2019 but due to the pandemic we had to wait until now to hear it - it was well worth the wait! Thanks to Craig Ratcliffe for directing with such precision and authority. Let's do it again sometime!
Me too. I'm off to Santiago de Compostela for the first time next week, and unfeasibly excited.
There are two performances of my music this weekend: on Saturday Fallen will be performed by Norwich singers, then on Sunday Gentle will form part of a recital given by Elayna Parandi (soprano) and Anna Day (marimba) at Indiana Wesleyan University, USA - no tariffs were paid! @uymp.bsky.social
Saturday's office: conducting the fabulous York RI Band in a concert that included Derek Bourgeois' 'Diversions' and a first concert performance for my 'Epithalamium'.
A super concert yesterday from the fabulous @elysiansingers.bsky.social who gave a beautifully shaped performance of 'The World's Last Night'.

Of course! It's the tradition. But only the shells.
