So we’re building concentration camps and rounding up “undesirables” and throwing them in there.

I’ve taken this approach to my own personal projects. I recently appeared in an episode of @codetv.dev Web Dev Challenge where we were challenged to build a working app in four hours. Leveraging HVE was our secret sauce. Nadirah and I have continued our work. We’ll have more to share soon.

And it scales! we have over thirty developers contributing to a code base with thousands of files. We’ve extended our use beyond just writing code including quality documentation, user stories in Azure Dev Ops, Pull Requests, ci/cd pipelines, IaC and more. It encompasses our entire SDLC.

In our org we’ve spent the past 18 months exploring this space and sharing best practices. It has rekindled the spark I had as an eight year old discovering what I could do with a computer. I guide and coach copilot with instructions on how to build high quality code. And it becomes more capable.

I’ve been using AI as a tool to accelerate my development workflow. Investing your time with learning prompt engineering in the context of the SDLC gives a boost to your productivity. The typical mantra is “fast, good, cheap, pick two” using High Velocity Engineering (HVE) you can have all three.

There are documented studies showing that facial recognition is horrendously broken with minority subjects. Coupled with an existing issue of police aggressive behavior regarding minorities and this is a recipe for disaster. This tech is not ready for use especially because it’s often life or death.

One of my favorite drinks at Starbucks this summer was the cherry chai latte. It had cherry cold foam and cherry sprinkles on top of a chai latte and I drank a cold so iced unfortunately that was a seasonal thing and so it’s gone. I found a nice substitute Lavender and chocolate cold foam. Try it.

A lot of what I do is inspired by what I’ve seen before. As is what most people do. Are we making the distinction because LLMs can synthesize their work without human interaction? Embroidery used to be done by hand and now it’s mostly machinated. That doesn’t mean artisanship isn’t appreciated.

You make valid points. About the damage to communities. It’s ridiculous that meta chose to build their data center where they cause damage rather than say in a desert surrounded by a solar farm.

Re: The ethics of training LLMs on other works, it’s difficult for me to comment on.

Well that’s an entirely different argument. I agree with the environmental concerns. But that isn’t the issue we were discussing. My point was that LLMs can assist people with disabilities.

You know the stuff that CEOs and department leads would typically hand off to an assistant.

From my personal experience as someone with adhd and executive function issues. I can tell you that I don’t us LLMs to “push a button and relinquish my humanity” I use it to help me organize my thoughts, break down my work, and remove the tedious work that AI can do more efficiently than I can.

The fact that John Brown was hung for treason and NONE of the confederates tells you everything you need to know about this country. They literally went to war against the country. But somehow that’s not treason.

If you have the space to install them you’ll actually get a boost by striping. Of course make sure you have important files backed up

People have these conjectures about “what if the south won?” The confederates were allowed back in Congress back to governorship. Tell me how they lost?

Without Lincoln’s assassination, this country would’ve had a fully different trajectory. Imagine the Civil Rights Act of 1866 instead of a full century later! Imagine if the freedmen given the plantations they worked labor free for generations were allowed to keep them.
