So, yeah, longer thread coming tomorrow after I have slept, because this whole team has been working SO hard to get this out, but Draw Steel introduces Art Description, a new form of image description combining alt text and new standards based on art museum best practices for image description.

No, we did not. The "Internet button" on those phones were incorrectly named, hiding behind them was not the Internet, but a panic attack.

27.06.2025 07:48 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0QNX should support the majority of software available in source for the contemporary parallel versions of BSD and Linux for starters. Specialized QNX software should be hard to come by, as it's an embedded systems OS and so very little is available.

19.02.2025 09:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0For me the line is between natural and contrived.
It is between "this is obviously awkwardly staged" and "this could have happened naturally this way".
And in some instances, it is a question of a connecting element in the whole body of work present or not.
There is a lot of arguably non-pornographic nude art out there that is just plain boring.
There is some arguably pornographic material out there that is photographically exciting.
And for me the line is not between porn or not.
Because regulating diabetes is not about having power over people. Simple as that.

On a serious note, I'd love to see some more elaborate info on your process, how you use light formers, which types of light for what position, raw camera image vs. edited (especially the exposure) - it is quite fascinating.
This of course begs the question about the hidden symbolism behind mammalian features depicted in the shadows, and the obvious absence of color. I strongly suspect that this picture of boobs does not actually "just" show boobs. amirite?

02.02.2025 18:31 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In my field, naming things has a meaning of its own.
"There are two hard things in computer science: naming things, and cache invalidation"
But seriously, names in my opinion form an important part of a piece of work.
I love cassette futurism! Does that age me?
11.01.2025 10:56 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Almost looks like it was shot in infrared... which I would seriously encourage every photographer to give a try. Also has a very nice effect in nudes (with natural light).

20.12.2024 18:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Maybe - all I know about that is hearsay. But I can say for sure his views on building software are wrong and dangerous. And since a lot of people take his word as gospel on that, that is the far greater danger in my eyes. Doesn't lessen the other issues, though.
20.12.2024 18:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That would require me to spend money on his books in order to read them. I'm afraid that would only incentivize him to write even more of those.
20.12.2024 17:46 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0You Sir have a very weird understanding about crafts and the education system behind it. It's not flawless, for sure, but if it were that bad, no one would pass, ever. Which is where actual numbers would disagree with you.
20.12.2024 13:36 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 03) But the only way this is ever truly going to change is if the customer makes an active choice for products that serve his interest and funding for bad products dries up. In this sense, craftsmanship stands for taking pride in one's work. No FAANG techbro could ever do that.
20.12.2024 13:05 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 02) The list goes on and on. Gatekeeping however is not the answer, but (if we talk economy terms) the customer should reject abysmal quality. There is a lot of stuff wrong with the way the software (and hardware) industry operates.
20.12.2024 13:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0And that is why we are stuck with an ever worsening state of software. Too many people in the field without an understanding about the fundamentals, too many businesses seeking quick money and disregarding the impact of their short-sighted decisions. A new fad each week.
20.12.2024 13:01 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Exactly. There is a power to itself in chosing to do things differently and sticking to it. Much more powerful and persuasive than forcing change down people's throat. Be the change you want to see in others.
