A lot of bigotry tends not to be labelled as such, since people aren't educated enough on important topics such as race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, etc.

I'm also autistic, and the amount of people who use the r-slur, but think they're not ableist is scary. The BAFTA incident showed there's so many ableists out there.

Yeah, but you're white though. It's not exactly gonna be noticeable to you unless you know what you're looking for. A lot of it's subtle. A lot of racists don't even know they're racist. I'm not saying a lot of nudists are intentionally racist, it's largely internalised.

Would have disagree a little with the 'modern naturist spaces' thing. In theory, yes, but not in practise. Just looking at the history of racism in the naturist community, and how recent some of it is, and knowing it's still dominated by older, cishet, white, able-bodied men, I have to doubt that.
Changed my mind. After I mentioned that naturism had been used as a way to find out who was Jewish (by seeing if they were circumcised) by eugenicists, perhaps there's a lot to unpack there.

I also had read an article which said that nudism had been used to identify whether someone was Jewish (circumcised) or had an STI, in order to marginalise them.
Haven't been able to find that article though. Can't remember much else about it.
And one of the founders of the AANR, Henry S. Huntington, had an interest in eugenics, with his brother, Ellsworth, being part of the American Eugenics Society.
Looks like Henry may have changed his opinions on it though in his later life, unclear though.

Thing is, there's plenty of important discussions within naturism/nudism to have. Like, unpacking it's early relationship with eugenics. Discussion on the history of racism, ableism, classism and misogyny within the community. Or what can clubs do to be more inclusive.
Why would it matter? And why would someone ask that?
