25.09.2025 10:24 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Lovely morning out on patch at Borrans Park, Waterhead this morning. The highlight being an Eurasian Bittern which flew from a patch of reeds along the marsh, patch tick 125! Other highlights Common sand & Curlew flybys + Marsh Tit.

Lovely views of this singing common sandpiper on patch at Borrans Park, Ambleside this morning. Other highlights included a low fly over osprey heading NW down the Rydal Valley and a total of 61 species!

Great past two days birding. Yesterday Moss Eccles & Wise Een Tarns with @millsbirding.bsky.social included highlights of barn owl + 5 goldeneye and 15 tufted duck. Then today a mornings patch birding at Borrans Park in lovely weather included at least 1 (of 2) long staying shag. eBird lists below.

1st went to Ringstone Edge to twitch two drakes found earlier, as it was a Halifax tick! Found 4 birds present!
Then checked Elland GP and had 3 females fly over with a Wigeon!
Just one other Halifax 2024 record!

Two wigeon on the river Rothay was my second patch record and the first noneflyover!

Ringing demonstration at the living seas centre, South Landing 8-12pm
Vismigging will be at Hunmanby gap 7.30-9.30 but may move location so watch for updates
The migration walk, for those booked on it, meet at the lighthouse car park for 10am
The Red-breasted Flycatcher just trapped at the Obs; it's an adult male which is a bit unexpected

25.09.2024 19:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A male ring-necked duck was on Windermere from Borrans Park this morning, a first for the patch taking the total to 140 and my 113th species personally. Also a great white egret dropped in briefly before flying S/SW down Windermere.
