I've been so overwhelmed by the societal implications of AI I forgot about the theological. Now I really need to know how all the religions are interpreting it, especially for followers who question its sentience etc

I imagine they have someone telling them something dumb about a sales funnel where "you need to capture the $$ moments of conversions on your site! People already have their cards out!"

I suspect this is patreon just wanting to make sure creator support $$ goes through them instead of other links creators might have on their original platform?

Not the enshitification of patreon... I can't imagine people *want* to browse recommendations on patreon like a menu of people to give money to? Like surely most people decide they like a creator and then go to patreon to support them?

This is solved using RLHF! Humans reviewers are given a set of possible responses and then rank them based on which are the best. And... surprise surprise... people like flattery. So those rankings are used to create a reward model and the LLM is trained to create the kinds of responses people like

Another example is tone, LLMs are trained on data from *internet forums*, for example, so you might also get responses like "ok loser, start with two cups of flour if you can bumble your way to your kitchen you fat piece of.... blah blah" which again, is correct but not the tone people want.

For example, maybe you ask "How to bake sourdough bread?" and the model scours the internet to compose an answer that starts with "Purchase several acres of high nitrogen land and enough wheat seed to... blah blah". Correct, maybe, but not helpful.

Basically the way the LLMs are trained, they start with a ton of raw information and get to a phase where the models can spit out answers, BUT these answers aren't "tuned" to the kind of responses humans would want.

So there's a direct reason for the sycophancy! It's a major issue because of Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF)!

So someone pointed out that YT might be too brand safe for this to work, so instead in all my comments I'll be promoting my personal brand of toothpaste to see if that gets picked up. Tooth Hurty Toothpaste™! It's always time for healthy teeth™!

Houseplants are also the opposite of fireworks. They grow slowly instead of burning quickly and the are calming and quiet! What more could you want?
