Harper indeed imported Preston Manning's populist Reform Party shitism into Canada, a populist shitism nobody in the country cared about, wanted or ever asked for - except for RW western Canadian wanna-be American nitwits who championed this ugly greasy ideologically based anti-Canadian crap.

Funding the justice system adequately to fairly handle the caseload would take away from the funds needed for Doug Ford's endless corruption.

City councils can certainly be parochial and corrupt, but the funny thing is that municipalities are prevented from running deficits while the senior levels of government continually offload their responsibilities onto them while vetoing alternative funding sources.

And no one in the industry wants to pay for it because that would either cut their profits or make them even more non-competitive cost wise. They prefer to waste millions on fairy tales about magic carbon capture technology — and get public funding for it!

Perhaps something like NATO but without the US and Hungary (and perhaps others)? Australia and New Zealand, too, as the US pivots to the Pacific.

I would guess (hope?) that most of the reported support for a new pipeline is more about wanting independence from the US than about supporting the O&G industry.

Equating masculinity with killing people is deeply embedded in patriarchy and colonialism. These wealthy extremists basically want to bring back and legalize the lynching of anyone who in any way challenges their fragile supremacy.

The future is building a humanoid robot at great cost to replace hiring a guy to hand out water bottles, then hiring a guy to remote control the robot handing out water bottles.

Worse than just not supporting Ukraine, Trump wants to actively support Russia with money (dropped sanctions), weapons sales and intel (including Musk's Starlink) so he can share in the spoils of conquest.

I'm really impressed by how well Green Party leader Zack Polanski makes the case for liberal democracy as the Labour Party capitulates more & more to the right.

And, even if Carney loyalists trust him to only use this for good*, it establishes the practice for use by the Cons next time they're in power.

(* Yes, many are still this delusional)

this is why liberals won't call for actual consequences. nothing trump is doing is something we didn't spend two decades doing throughout the middle east, central asia and africa during the war on terror. it's just that trump brags about it on social media too much

Things PM ⁦‪Carney’s‬⁩ office prefers not to admit to Cdns, as it dismantles our climate regs, policies.
Chevron’s own docs note their CCUS captured 2.66% of carbon emissions from this project.

Tracks to global study which shows CCUS’ avg capture rate at ⬇️ 30%.

An American facial recognition company is field testing on Canadians. This is what the Israelis do to Palestinians. And they are using Canadian police to do it.

The cynical take that there wasn't a Finch West Express bus because it would have absolutely smoked these trams is seeming more and more likely.

For too long the Toronto transit advocacy sphere was so hand wavy about speed, other stuff matters, but people really do want to get places quickly!

The lack of express subway services is historically understandable but nonetheless sad.

Tunnelling to add it now would no doubt cost as much as Ford's fantasy under the 401, but would add much more to the livability of the city.

Follow the math of 7 yrs in power, Premier. You’re the poster boy of poor math skills dampening Ontario economy and future.

Not one fucking word from any quoted health expert on cleaning classroom air.

Yes, talk about vaccines, ofc that's important.

But there's something else we could talk about here: a measure that protects everyone but doesn't trigger endless debates on the choice to vaccinate.

Clean classroom air!

More than anything else classism is that if you lose your company half a million you get fired, but if Zuck loses Meta 77 billion he gets paid $28 million.

Meritocracy doesn't fail due to DEI, if fails becaues we can't ever let a rich nimrod suffer consequences for any level of screwup.

How can anyone take seriously the claims of national "taxpayer federation" with 5-6 members, does not disclose its finances/donors, and has zero transparency - yet demands transparency from others. It is time to investigate the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

Lobbying by the tax preparation firms that open temporary offices on main streets every tax season. This will cut their business.

And that's a good thing.
